“In the End It Always Does” by The Japanese House came out in June of 2023, but I didn’t discover it until probably November of 2024. It’s been on heavy rotation since then.

The songs feel cohesive but they don’t all sound the same, which is easier said than done. The instrumentation choices for each song feel well thought out. The production is beautiful. The melodies go above and beyond. Even the cadence of the lyrics is fantastic.

There’s an underlying weight to this album because of the lyrics and the gorgeous, almost haunting, melodies at times. I love the fun and playful side of this album too. The music beautifully bears a bit of the burden/sadness in the lyrics, which helps lift it up in a sense and give it its playfulness at times. Simply put, this album has it all. It can bring you to tears, it can make you want to dance, or it can make you want to hold someone close.

At the moment, this is one of my favorite albums of all time. Time will tell, but I can see this staying up there for quite some time. If or ever see this post, I just want to say thank you to you and all the hands that were part of this masterpiece. That’s exactly what it is.
