As 2017 draws to a close, let’s say goodbye and good riddance to these fashion faux pas, which reared their ugly heads on catwalks, sidewalks and red carpets this year.

Fashion, for years, has been in the throes of an ugly footwear fe**sh, adopting Birkenstocks and Tevas as the new “it” shoes. But the trend reached its apex — or nadir — this year when Balenciaga sent a pair of platform-soled Crocs down its Spring 2018 runway.

Amazingly, Balenciaga wasn’t the only high-fashion brand to embrace the hideous plastic clunker: UK designer Christopher Kane offered a crystal-encrusted version, while Maison Margiela sold a $1,200 studded one.
