Our Story
My name is Jessica, and I am a Full-Time LuLaRoe Independent Fashion Retailer. I live in La Quinta, California with my husband, our energetic, free-spirited son, and our two Chihuahuas. I started working in post-secondary education in 2005 and taught critical thinking courses, graduate level education courses, as well as general education courses during my tenure. LuLaRoe found me by chance while I was being supportive of a friend in her new business venture by suggesting others to like her VIP Group. I won a free pair of leggings and the rest was history...well, almost history!
Life is a fun journey and in November 2016, I began my adventure with LuLaRoe; specifically, I had my Online Launch Party November 9, 2016. Little did I know, this hobby, passion, and love for LuLaRoe was going to become my Full-Time Business, but it did, because on February 9, 2017, the university I was employed with full-time went through an acquisition and 169 Full-Time Faculty; myself included, found out on a group conference call that our positions were eliminated and we were now considered Associate Faculty teaching contractually as needed. And just like that, 12 years of hard work, two masters degrees, and scholarship that was being submitted for presentation at an education conference the very next morning felt like it was all for nothing. My last day was our son’s birthday and instead of being at school with him like I had intended, I sat at home and waited for FedEx to sign for separation paperwork. It was that day that I decided I wanted control of my life and my happiness.
My WHY, though sometimes difficult to put in words, it is quite simple. I want control on my terms; control of my happiness, control of my schedule, control of how I make others feel. I never want anyone to feel the way I felt the day I was told I could no longer do the job I was passionate about. I want to make others feel good, lift them up, help and inspire whenever possible. I want to make a difference no matter how big or small. Being available for our son to go on field trips and volunteer means the world to me and fundraising is something I am passionate about. LuLaRoe allows me to meet other women and empower them whether it is through fashion or other commonalities and having a Girl Tribe is Amazing! Ultimately, this has been the most exciting and fun adventure career wise that I had never intended on having and I am loving every minute of it!
