This one’s for Duchess.

She’s not mine, but she lets me get close. Close enough to put my hands to work again.

It’s been a long time since I let myself feel connected to a horse. I’ve lost every one I ever called my own. And after a while, you stop letting yourself reach.

But Duchess, she reminds me that it’s okay to come back to it. To create for a horse I want to love, even if she’s not mine.

This halter carries all of that. Grief, hesitation, beauty, and return.

Sometimes healing looks like a green stitch line and a quiet moment in the ranch.

Getting everything dusted off and put away! It’s official, I’m open 🥳

I was able to update my website, come up with a few new ideas and make some old ideas better. I won’t say things have been easy, in fact they have been very, very hard and I will probably run into more challenges along the way.

But I will say I’m happy! I get to relaunch a movement that means so much to me (especially now given the climate of the world AGAIN). I’m moving forward in school which will allow me to reach my community in other ways as well. But more than anything, I feel honored to be apart of the black equestrian community. I’m just a small piece. I’m surrounded by all levels of black excellence and representation and I’m happy to be apart of it 🥰
