❄️ Our Freezing Cold Closing Sale! ❄️

As some of you may know, our landlord has decided to close the building at 420 Washington due to inadequate heating, which means Halloween will be our last day at The Department Store! 🎃

We have just FOUR shopping days left, and everything is at least 50% off, excluding fine jewelry and consignment. Most of our consignment has already moved out, but we still have a few pieces available!

Please stop in on Halloween, even if you’re not shopping! We’ll have some yummy treats (not tricks!) and would love to see everyone one last time! 🍬❤️

If you’re stopping in during the morning, be sure to dress warmly! It takes a while for our electric heaters to get the store warmed up (the picture above show the temperature this morning for reference).

While our physical store is closing, we’re not going away! We’re moving our shopping experience online, especially to Whatnot, where you can join us for live auctions and some incredible deals!

Some things might need a little extra love, but they’re just too nice to throw away! You’ll also find plenty of great items in like-new condition that we’d love to see go to a new home.

🤠 GORDY SIGHTING: THE FINAL CHAPTER?

Well, look who made it back to The Department Store!

Gordy stopped in earlier this week, giving us what may very well be our last official Gordy sighting at 420 Washington Avenue.

We’ve had a lot of fun documenting these occasional appearances, but with the store preparing to close, our little observation post is running out of time.

Of course, nobody told Gordy the sightings have to stop.

The store may be closing, but the legend is still at large.

Until the next sighting… wherever that may be.

PLEASE READ BEFORE SELLING YOUR GOLD OR SILVER!

With traveling gold and silver buyers coming to town Friday, I wanted to remind everyone that not all gold and silver should be sold for scrap or melt value!

Certain antique, vintage, designer, and collectible pieces can be worth considerably more than their precious-metal content alone.

At The Department Store, I’m interested in purchasing select sterling silver and gold items, and depending on the pieces, I may be able to offer you more than you would receive from a traveling buyer.

I also recognize that some items, particularly antique sterling bowls, serving pieces, and collectible jewelry, may be worth significantly more to collectors. For those pieces, I may be able to help you sell them on consignment rather than lose that additional value by selling them for melt.

I can’t promise to purchase everything, and my buying capacity is limited, but I’m happy to consider what you have.

Before selling something potentially valuable for scrap, give me an opportunity to take a look!
