Thank you for everyone’s kind words. Candy’s physical health has been declining slowly for few years.. despite being on the best dog food () and daily walks (2-3x a day).. in December, I insisted on taking Candy on the Vegas trip, feeling that this would be our last trip together.
2 nights ago, after L had gone to bed, I took her to the other room and played with her..mostly me kissing her face, giving her yogurt, and when we cuddled in bed, it was as if she was telling me it was time. It still took me all of Wednesday to process and monitor her lack of appetite to make the vet appt.. it was a cold drizzly night so I put on her electronic blanket and she burrowed under the blanket, just as she had done for the last 13 years.
We had the appointment today but this morning, we found out that she already passed away during the night. I have been crying all day, washing her blankets and clothes, breathing in her scent, cleaning her space, praying, and saying goodbyes over and over again.
Because of my January gloom and coronavirus lockdown, I was fortunate to have spent more time with her than usual. Even though she was too weak to go outside, too blind to walk, too old to jump on the bed, too tired to chew her food properly, she perked up when she smelled her food, especially chicken. And just having her in the same room with me was a blessing.
I love my baby girl endlessly, she was my first true love, became my family when I had just turned 22, the one that made me vegan and got me interested in animal welfare laws, and that’s how M and I bonded and adopted Bagel. She is the one that led me to this life I have right now. Thanks, Candy girl, and I hope you are now with Mom and Dad. My life will never be the same without you. ❤️🌈❤️

It would not be a trip if I didn’t at least try to visit one yarn store. This was one of the best yarn shops I have been to recently in terms of the selections. Yarns filled walls of shelves and then aisles of shorter shelves but organized in a tasteful manner so you don’t feel too overwhelmed. Looooooved feeling around so many selections of Shibui, Malabrigo, Blue Sky, Dream in Color, indie dyer yarns, super chunky yarns, lace yarns, everything in between. Literally so much yarn. :)
I ended up with these vibrant red sport weight yarn from Berroco. Can’t wait to cast on for Kiddo’s vest.

This is how I start the season every year. ABT’s The Nutcracker! So lucky to be living in OC. Hubby and I are Steward level Friends of the Center every year because of all the great memories we built here—even have our faces up on the poster 😘 The cast party was also a dream come true. Loved every minute of it and left with new vows and goals for ballet class.
