🕯️Today I light this candle in memory of Kyra on her heavenly 13th birthday. Holding her family especially close to my heart today🎗️

🎗️This holds deep meaning for me. Its name is “Hudson” — gifted to me years ago by a student when I was teaching kindergarten. One day, I noticed the name printed on the sticker affixed to the bottom: Hudson. A name that carries so much significance in our lives because it belongs to our joyful, adventurous, incredible friend who was taken by cancer nearly three years ago, just shy of his 13th birthday.

✨Tonight, I light this candle for Kyra, for Hudson, and for all of the sweet children we’ve lost to cancer. I promise to continue doing the work, sharing their stories, and fighting to honor their lives and memories✨

A calming space isn’t about sending children away when emotions feel big- it’s about creating a safe space where they can pause, regulate, reflect, and reconnect.

Whether at home or in the classroom, calming areas can help children build emotional awareness and coping skills that support them for a lifetime.

Some simple things to include:
✨ Cozy seating or pillows 🛋️
✨ Books (Feel Trip is a great option) 📖
✨ Music 🎵
✨ Sensory tools ✋🏽
✨ Feelings visuals/charts/wheels (FREE printables!)
✨ FeelLinks journal or other drawing materials 🖍️
✨ FeelLinks dolls for emotional check-ins, expression, connection & regulation 🌈

The FeelLinks dolls help children recognize what’s happening in their head⭐️, heart♥️, and belly🌀 - while giving them a hands-on way to regulate, communicate, feel seen, supported, and understood.

Big feelings are not bad feelings- children simply need support learning what to do with them🤍

Do you have a calming space in your home or classroom?

article from contributor is one that caught my attention this morning.

Many of us were never taught how to recognize, process, or communicate emotions ourselves. Yet experts continue to emphasize that emotional intelligence is not something children simply “pick up” on their own- it is modeled, practiced, and nurtured through connection.

The article also highlights that emotionally intelligent parenting is less about fixing feelings and more about helping children feel seen, heard, safe, and supported while they learn to navigate emotions themselves.

And that’s exactly why FeelLinks was created. 💛

Through the Feel Trip book, FeelLinks dolls, journals, and emotional check-ins, our goal has always been bigger than teaching “feelings words.”

We’re helping children:
✨ build emotional awareness
✨ strengthen communication
✨ develop self-regulation skills
✨ increase empathy & connection
✨ build lifelong emotional intelligence skills

And just as importantly, FeelLinks was created to support the adults, too.

Because when adults are given simple, engaging tools and language around emotions, they become more confident helping children navigate big feelings and life’s challenges.

💫If you are looking for meaningful tools to support emotional intelligence at home, in classrooms, counseling offices, healthcare settings, or therapy spaces, FeelLinks was created with exactly that purpose in mind- 🔗myfeellinks.com

✏️There is something powerful about giving children a safe space to pause, reflect, and express what’s happening inside their hearts 🩷 and minds ⭐️

🖍️Journaling is more than putting drawings and/or words on paper - it helps children build emotional awareness, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and healthy coping habits that can support them for life.

🧠Research and emotional wellness experts continue to highlight the powerful lifelong benefits of helping children identify, understand, and express their feelings as part of developing emotional intelligence.

✏️The FeelLinks Feelings Journal was thoughtfully created to help children:
✨ Express feelings through drawing, writing, and/or dictation
✨ Expand emotional vocabulary
✨ Reflect and problem-solve
✨ Build healthy emotional coping strategies
✨ Create a meaningful keepsake of their growth over time

🖍️With over 200 colorful pages, guided prompts, emotional vocabulary words, creative activities, and full-page journaling spreads, it offers children a supportive place to process emotions in ways that meet their individual needs.

🏠 🏫 🏥 Whether used at home, in classrooms, counseling offices, healthcare settings, or during visits to the schools nurses office- journaling helps create opportunities for connection, conversation, and emotional growth.

✏️Some days children may write a lot. Some days they may simply draw a picture or circle a feeling - and all of it matters 💝

💖Helping children understand their feelings today supports healthier relationships, communication, empathy, and self-awareness tomorrow.

Throwing it back to nearly 4 years ago when came to our home to interview us about our book, Feel Trip. This was Stella’s very first television interview- and we can all agree, this then 12 year old nailed it! 💥

Looking back, it’s incredibly special to see how this journey started and how meaningful Feel Trip continues to be for children, families, educators, and professionals supporting emotional health.

Feel Trip is more than just a children’s book- it’s a tool that helps spark conversations, build emotional awareness, encourage connection, and support social-emotional learning in a relatable and engaging way
⭐️❤️🌀

📚✨We love seeing Feel Trip added to home bookshelves, classrooms, school libraries, counselor and nurse offices, waiting rooms, and healthcare facilities - creating opportunities for children to better understand feelings wherever they are.

I loved the conversations we had- the insights, golden nuggets, meaningful stories, and honest reflections around parenting, emotions, connection, and growth. These are the kinds of conversations that leave you thinking long after the microphones are off🥰

Feeling grateful for the opportunity to share my heart, the work I do & the collective missions that support self-awareness, personal growth and human connection.

More to come soon…stay tuned! 🎧
