THE 250 COLLECTION: AMERICAN TIGER STRIPE

Tiger Stripe became imminently American in the jungles of Vietnam — or as Rich who did two tours with MACV-SOG said, when he was visiting the flagpole, it was also perfect to wear while drinking beer at the Caraveille Hotel, watching mortars reign down across town in Saigon.

That’s our kind of versatility. We developed American Tiger Stripe from that heritage. It’s horrible for blending into any jungle anywhere, but perfect for celebrations of America and for representing those traits that have defined us for 250 years: resilience, rebellion, and boundless optimism.

Hair & Makeup BTS

People ask how we get the models to look so authentic in our pictures. The secret is simple: they aren’t models, and we don’t use makeup. Instead, we bring out our own dedicated hair and makeup team.

For this shoot they were the 50lb Sandbag,​ The Rucker, and the Achilles.

Our internal rule is this: no pictures for the first 30 minutes of any “shoot”. Live the life, then take pictures. Those ones turn out the best.

So we wait, and we do the miles and the work.

We put our “models” through high-rep movements on the cracked asphalt, bear crawls past the old pumps, and heavy rucking in the heat. By the time the cameras are actually rolling, everyone is exactly how they’re supposed to be: sweaty, gross, exhausted, and wearing a layer of real road dust.

We don’t fake it in our photos because we don’t believe in faking it in life. There are no shortcuts to looking like you put in the work—you actually have to do it.

BTW we’ve been doing this for a while - same two dudes in the last picture from 2010 at a mud run, GOOD TIMES!

A couple that rucks together … gets to pay those lessons forward to other people and communities for the rest of their days, and that’s our goal. We’ve been building something really special at GORUCK since 2008, and we’re grateful that you’re a part of that.
