MONDAY EYE FACT: Your eyes have built-in image stabilization!
Think about this: How can you move your head without everything you're looking at moving around with it?
Your eyes and inner ear work together constantly to make that possible!
The secret is something called the *vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR)*.
🧠 Your inner ear senses when your head moves.
👁️ Your eye muscles receive signals that help your eyes move in the opposite direction.
✨ This allows your gaze to remain steady on what you're looking at.
And the amazing part? It all happens automatically, without you having to think about it!
Want to see it in action? Hold your thumb out in front of you, keep your eyes focused on it, and gently turn your head from side to side.
Notice how your eyes continue tracking your thumb? That's your visual and vestibular systems working together!
We love showing our patients just how fascinating their vision really is. 💙
