Them: Why do you charge so much for your dresses?
Me: Because my fur child, who I have had since the moment she was born, is old and has diabetes just like a person and her medical bills are hefty and she can't whip out a credit card to get what she needs to be healthy herself....
Because she doesn't have thumbs.

As I work to change my business model to move away from clients that come from "social media" I want to make a quick reminder that businesses on Yelp are not all right in your back yard.
I have a LOT of people messaging me on Yelp asking me for "quick alterations" that would include a 4 hour round trip.
A long drive for an event or a theater job is absolutely worth it.
A 4 hour drive to fix 2 inches on a slit of a dinner dress is not.
Or your husband's old boat shorts.
I even had someone ask me to come to the baseball field in Branson to fix a uniform on a specific Saturday morning.
I completely understand that people doing alterations are in high demand. But you don't want to pay my mileage, and to bring my machine, to fix a baseball uniform.
And, people need to learn how to read.

I am happy to announce that the home repair issues I was dealing with throughout May have been resolved!
Moving forward, I will be taking LESS of my custom clients directly from social media. Sifting through the massive amount of spam, bots, and unreasonable requests every day suck up so much of my daily time that I am finding that my time for me to actually MAKE the items customers are paying for is completely unbalanced and unhealthy.
I am making a personal change to be more involved with my local community and clients that I meet in person.

I will be sharing some exciting changes with you about where my items will be available for purchase soon.

This is why I am pulling away from social media.

To My Current Customers (Form Letter) 5/26/2026:
Over the last month I have been dealing with both my air conditioner and my furnace being replaced.
I rent, and I have been at the mercy of my landlord and property manager to get this finished.
It has taken a toll on my business because they had to open up a portion of my house, insert the new units, then solder the copper, then repair my home. Even though I have new units, they are currently NOT “hooked up”. I have had my very expensive fabrics, trims, laces, etc packed away to protect them from the elements, soot, and dirt.
I have been told every week that it will be done “this week”.
I have put off making any kind of announcement because I was determined not to let this affect my business.
I also caught COVID, again. Even though I can do work from day to day, I am still dealing with the symptoms. (With no AC, and my house open to the elements.)
I am currently not planning on letting this affect my productivity and I will be contacting you all to touch base and let you know how things are going.
I also want to point out that platforms like FB Meta are a mess. They are so unreliable for communication at this point I want to scream. And the overwhelming amount of fake crap and AI is exhausting.
Please feel free to email me, or text me.
I appreciate every single one of you as a customer. And I take your projects very seriously.
All My Love, CaseyJuly

I have completely lost my patience with social media.
I was prepared to launch a whole new round of reels and go Live for TikTok and other platforms.
But I am so over it.
It makes absolutely no sense to build a career for 15+ years, and be doing a skill for 30 YEARS just to be completely dismissed by a whole generation of humans.
I refuse to even pretend like AI can complete with my skills. It can't even do what I do.

I am sorry to all of my current clients who have been caught in the last month of my working inconsistently. I am doing my best to keep my business running smoothly.
I will be communicating with my customers as we move forward to have the best possible outcome for them.
I am committed to continuing to run my business with the quality my customers deserve.

I have been hesitant to make this announcement, but I feel it is time. Over the last MONTH, I have been dealing with having my air conditioner and my furnace replaced.
As many of you may know, I work from home, and just for clarity, we rent.
I literally have thousands of dollars worth of sewing machines, fabric, lace, vintage patterns, etc., in my home.
Silk, satin, velvet, etc.
When this process first started, I cleaned up my workspace and packed away a ton of my sewing supplies, thinking it would just be like one week. One week has turned into over one month.
The Landlord has not hired a professional. I have dealt with them, trying to just walk into my house. Showing up unannounced. Leaving in the middle of the day with my back door open and my only bathroom left with tools and ladders inside, and not coming back for days. My attic space has been left open for days (over my washer and dryer). And trucks are parked IN my yard, and they throw their cigarette butts in my yard. They brought their dog to my property, and it has tried to come into my house (I love dogs). While souldering, they have "thrown" soot all over my house with an open flame. Including myself, my papers, and my furniture.
We have had a broken, outdated window unit, which has jacked up our electric bill (provided by the landlord).

My main point of this post is to say that I have not been able to work on my business consistently for 4 weeks.
Today I have a new AC and furnace, but neither of them works.
I have no idea when I will be able to fully get back to sewing and running my business at 100%. I have not had a HUGE issue with missing deadlines for my paying clients.
I have kept my cool because of the current situation with our landlord, but if I start losing income because of the situation, I will need to take action.
