Summer miles are better with the pack, and we are throwing down a challenge for every cross country squad in the area. Bring your entire team out to the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course on Friday, August 14th (5:00 PM - 8:00 PM) for the 2026 Runaround XC Festival. We have a dedicated 1/2 mile loop set up, stacked with demo shoes from over a dozen top-tier running brands. You get to test-run the latest spikes and trainers on actual grass, hit the brand booths for exclusive raffle entries, and hang out with the local XC community. But here is where the team rivalry comes in: every single lap your team completes gets tracked, and the squad with the most cumulative laps at the end of the night wins the Iron Pack Award, securing a completely free pair of trainers for your coach.

Whether you're chasing a state title, or starting your first cross country season, this night is all about celebrating the sport. Come try some shoes, run some loops, connect with other runners, and help your team chase the Iron Pack award!

Get ready to kick off the 2026 cross-country season the right way! Join us Friday, August 14th, at the Tom Rutledge (MSSU) Cross Country Course from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM for a night dedicated entirely to XC athletes and coaches. Here's why you need to be there:

Test before you buy: try out the latest cross-country spikes and trainers from HOKA, Brooks, On, New Balance, and more on our 1/2-mile test loop.

Win free shoes: We'll have multiple challenges and games that give you a chance to win free shoes.

"The Clinic" Presented by Midwestern Built Health: We'll pause the demo for a short, informative clinic to get you ready for the upcoming season!

Raffles and prizes: in addition to the individual and team competitions, you can visit brand booths to get entered for a chance to win even more prizes!

Admission is entirely free, but you must register to get your timing bib and step onto the course.

Meet our newest employees, Brooklyn and Daunte!

Brooklyn is currently at MSSU pursuing a degree in Respiratory Therapy. Her favorite color is pink and she brings a fun drink to work every single day; Saltea sloth, Starbucks or 7Brew! Her favorite shoe is the CloudSurfer Max from on cloud because it’s bouncy and gives a great feel to her everyday!

Daunte is currently at MSSU working toward getting his Elementary and Special Education degree! He loves running and has a passion for helping others! His favorite shoe is the Asics Novablast because of its lightweight bouncy feel that helps excel him to keep pushing forward.

The Second Annual Runaround Cross Country Festival is just around the corner!

We’ve made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Runaround Relays due to low registration numbers.

This one stings because we genuinely believed in what this event could become. Our goal wasn’t simply to host another race. We wanted to create something fun, different, and community-driven that brought people together around movement, competition, and relationships.

We take responsibility for it. As event organizers, our job is to create something people are excited to participate in, and we missed the mark this time.

At the same time, there is a reality we’ve learned over the years: community events only continue when communities support them. These events require months of planning, coordination, staffing, permits, equipment, and financial investment before race day ever arrives. We love bringing unique experiences to our area, but for events to survive and grow, participation has to follow.

So we’d love your honest feedback.

What would have made Runaround Relays easier to say yes to?

• Different date?
• Different format?
• Better communication?
• Lower cost?
• Different team setup?
• Something entirely different?

We’re not posting this to complain. We’re posting because we care. We want to continue creating experiences that bring our community together, but we also want to listen and learn.

Thank you to everyone who supported this event and believed in the idea. We’re still committed to building a community in motion, and we’re hopeful this isn’t the end of Runaround Relays — just an opportunity to learn and come back better.
