Inspired by an incredible woodworker who truly has learned the art of listening to what the wood or any medium wants to become. Having created this magnificent Koa Ihe Laumeki (traditional barbed spear) for U’i Gallery, Hakuole got to work using the traditional pewa (butterfly plug) used in traditional Hawaiian wood repairs and turned it into the shape of an ear; in essence tying the past to the present. This design get some strong mana!!! Available from XXS-6XL.

“Lei Humupapa”
(Traditional Hawaiian Feather Lei)

Humupapa involves a “flat stitch” technique of hand-sewing feathers to a flat base surface. While hat bands are a primary example of this style, Hakuole created this design to mimic an exceptional lei Humupapa in the Maile style, unseen in the Hawaiian Kingdom in over 100 years. The skilled hands of this lei Humupapa is evident in the masterful mimicry of design.
