Our Kansas City community is grieving, and our hearts are broken, but we are strong. I wanted to help in some small way, so I did what I do and made a shirt. At least $10* from every purchase will be donated to KC Mothers in Charge, an organization that helps support families after a loved one's homicide. www.kcmothersincharge.org

I did something both exciting and terrifying this month. I filed to run for my local school board. It wasn't on my bucket list. Nowhere close. But we have families who feel left out of the conversation. Educators who need supports they can't get. And a legislature that continues to push divisive (non)issues that traumatize kids to win imaginary political points instead of just working to fund our schools, our teachers and our students.
