In 1964, to mark the release of ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, twelve women were selected to attend the premiere as promotional “vendors,” each wearing one of three specially made dress styles. After the movie, they all were invited to go back to the Dorchester and attend the party with the Beatles, where many of the girls got their dresses signed by all four!

Later that same year, the dresses were released again in a limited, numbered edition as promotional pieces for the album. Today, they’re incredibly rare and seen as a really special piece of early Beatlemania history.

Hey Mayor Quinton Lucas why are these signs up today in Westport, a beautiful Saturday, for a parade on Tuesday and your city workers lied when I asked about calling the city. Great way to support small businesses in Kansas City

Stephen Burrows is a visionary whose work didn’t just dress an era, it moved with it!

Emerging from New York City in the late 1960s and 70s, Burrows brought a bold, joyful energy to fashion that mirrored the pulse of creativity on the dance floors of funk and disco culture.

His signature “lettuce edge” hems, vibrant colors, and body conscious silhouettes celebrated movement, freedom, and self expression at a time when Black designers were rarely given space to lead. He wasn’t following trends, he was setting them; carving out a new visual language rooted in confidence, rhythm, and unapologetic individuality.

Burrows was the first Black designer to achieve international acclaim, he made history at the 1973 "Battle of Versailles" and was the first African American to win a Coty Award.
