Everything looks better with a Kim Eichler-Messmer bag! Hand-dyed, pieced and sewn by the artist, each bag is uniquely beautiful. The large bags make a great iPad cover or clutch, while the smaller size is perfect for a wallet, coin purse, or make-up bag. Hutch also has some of Kim's wonderful crib- and throw-size quilts made in her signature dyed, pieced and sewn fabrics. Thanks Kim for being so talented! Check out these great new Swick Shelves by local designer Austin Leroy Swick. They are the perfect solution for those small but important items in your life. Made from reclaimed cherry, ash and walnut, with beautiful details like match-booked floating tenons and tapered edges, they are wonderfully handmade and affordable.
Also at Hutch is this super pair of folk-art school girl paintings on wood panel from the 1940's, back when life was all about kittens, schoolbooks, dolls, bows and curls.

Just received this wonderful faux bois cast concrete bowl and some great carved wood pieces into Hutch Mercantile over the weekend by local artist Dave Root. The piece represents a slab cross section (to scale) of a large oak log, expertly cast and sculpted by Dave to pick up all the bark texture and detail. Great job Dave - thanks! (Shop hours this month are Fridays 5-9pm and Saturdays 11-7pm.)
