We make sustainable basics that make a difference in every element. Why? Underwear tops the most urgent needs list at most domestic violence shelters.

Our line of men’s and women’s basics create job opportunities locally, impact the environment globally, and donate a pair of underwear for every item sold. For every garment you buy, we donate a pair of new, clean, underwear to a woman in a domestic violence shelter, sexual assault clinic, etc. Founder Hayley learned underwear is the most under-donated clothing item & began developing MADI in 2012

after learning a family member was once a victim of domestic violence. Our mission also includes lowering waste with quality fabrics and lowering our carbon footprint with US production - also adding jobs to the American economy! We train local Kansas City women facing employment barriers how to sew our products. Once they graduate from our program, we contract-employ them to regularly sew our products in-house.

When one door closes, another opens... spring has sprung and we're ready for our next phase as a small businesses. It wouldn't be a goodbye without a thank you... to all of you. Near, far...

Thank you to family and friends for volunteering time and showing up to events, for all of the support.

Thank you to all of the publications who've ever featured us. You have no idea how much this helps us.

Thank you to The shops - big and small - for taking a chance on carrying our products! Made by us in the center of the US, Kansas City. It brings us joy and honor to see our ethically made goods in other cities and in front of global travelers!

Thank you to our customers - some of whom have been shopping with us for 10 years!! We've grown alongside you and hope you'll stick with us for what's to come.

This will mark our last post as MADI Apparel and in a few days this account will be Slow Motion Goods. We hope you'll stick with us in our next evolution! We're grateful to be here.

Since 2013, we've fought hard to make a difference, to do business with integrity, to create empowering moments and opportunities for and among women...

What we cared about on launch day in 2014 hasn't changed as we evolve this year in 2024... impacting and empowering those around us - an offering to look inside ourselves and look around and find out who needs us, discover how we are all connected and how we play a role in the greater picture... we're only "well" if we're all well together.

One body, one world... we only have one, so let's take care of it as a unit.

As we say our final goodbyes to MADI Apparel this week, we're flashing back to 10 of our favorite moments of community impact. In a few days, our name will change (to Slow Motion Goods) but the root of our mission will remain... to return back to self and back to community.

As we prepare to face the last day of MADI Apparel this weekend, we're going down memory lane. So many happy and challenging memories are coming up - starting with our indiegogo fundraising campaign that helped us get off the ground as a social enterprise startup exactly 10 years ago. Phew, what a wild ride!

We realize this past decade as a small business has brought way too many highlights to feature in one post, so this is just 1 of 3 posts to wrap up the most special moments (including the dates of those moments) since launching in 2014!!

You may have heard the news... but we're evolving into a sensory experiential concept (no longer just retail). With new growth means team growth!

We have a part-time role available in our Westside, KC flagship store that looks like this:
- 10-20 hours per week
- hybrid role: retail/social/service/events
- earn a living wage (very rare in retail + service industries)
- must have weekend and weekday availability
- seeking kind, trustworthy, motivated people who want to be part of a mission-driven business

If you haven't heard the news, we're REBRANDING! The evolution starts on April 1st. Until then, a handful of our friends womenswear styles are 30-70% and will be discontinued after they're sold out 😭.

A few of these have been in our collection for 9 years and it's a bittersweet goodbye. Cheers to new adventures and growth and cheers to keeping your closet comfy with this ultra final sale!

It's not only her birthday week, but it's her last day on the job!!! 😭 We're so lucky to have had Elizabeth's kindness, initiative, and friendly face on our team!! She's the one who does all the little things without any ask.. help us wish Elizabeth a happy birthday and farewell send off!!!

Our most recent empowerment event at in south LA was one of the most special trips we've ever made, to date!

This was our second time donating underwear and visiting this partner, and man was it special. As always, we popped up with a table of comfy bamboo underwear for residents to shop

We collaborated with local photographer to take behind the scenes footage (safe for us to use without survivors in the pics) and professional portraits of the residents and their children...this was so special!

We sourced flowers from a local sustainable florist .la and made a flower bar for residents to make their own bouquet to take home and hold in their portraits if they chose!

A few of of our incredible volunteers helped with a wall of self love

We basked in the sun as the kids played on the playground, and we enjoyed the day with some very special families.

Thank you to our customers for helping us donate underwear through your purchases, thank you to for partnering with us to make these empowerment events a reality, and thank you to for welcoming us back.

We can't wait to visit next in April!
