My story: I am the mother of two picky eaters. Problems were compounded because I am a vegetarian and a horrible cook trying to feed a carnivorous family. I was asking my children to try things that I couldn’t try myself. I needed them to be brave and that is the beginning of how Brave Plate™ LLC, was founded.
Much trial and effort later, I manufactured a small bowl and spoon set whose specific purpose is to try new foods in. I call it a Try Pod™. This took the stress right off the dinner plate. The bowls are small and approachable, but the true key to getting my kids to take their try was in the spoon. Every kid loves to have an important job. I gave my kids the formal job of taste testers. After they take their bite, they use the spoon to let the cook know what they think. The spoon is etched with a thumb up on one side and a thumb down on the other. Kids must lick their spoons clean to officially register their vote! Even on a yuck vote, my daughter takes great care to make sure the spoon is licked clear so that she can properly show me.
