As we head into another weekend, I just want to remind someone who may be carrying a heavy heart:

I don’t know a single person who is loved by everyone.

Some of the kindest, most generous people I know have been misunderstood, judged, criticized, and talked about. And on the flip side, I’ve seen people who aren’t particularly kind and supportivereceive all the applause in the world.

That’s life.

The truth is, every one of us has been someone’s favorite person and someone’s disappointment.

We’ve all been too much for some people and not enough for others.

We’ve all been included, and we’ve all felt left out.

We’ve all had moments we’re proud of and moments we wish we could do over.

We’ve all had our hearts broken, and if we’re honest, we’ve probably broken a few along the way too.

So if you’re worrying about what people think of you, what they’re saying about you, or whether you’re enough, let me lovingly remind you:

None of us have this life figured out.

None of us are getting through it perfectly.

And even if we could somehow be perfect, somebody, somewhere would still find a reason not to like us.

So take a deep breath.

Give yourself a little grace.

Keep showing up.

Keep loving people.

Keep learning.

Keep growing.

Keep getting back up when life knocks you down.

Don’t spend your precious days trying to win the approval of people. Spend them becoming the person God created you to be.

Your life is a gift.

A beautiful, messy, wild, sacred gift.

Live it.

Love hard.

Forgive often.

Laugh when you can.

And trust that God is writing a story bigger than any opinion someone may have about you.
