🫟 Coming Soon to Auction… Karel Appel 🫟

Our upcoming TWO-DAY auction is packed full of incredible fine art, including a large collection of colorful Karel Appel artworks!

Appel (1921-2006) was a Dutch painter, sculptor, and printmaker. He was a leading member of the CoBrA group of artists which was active in the 1940s and 1950s. CoBrA, was a European avant-garde art group active from 1948 to 1951. The name was coined in 1948 by Christian Dotremont from the initials of the members’ home countries’ capital cities: Copenhagen (Co), Brussels (Br), Amsterdam (A). Appel’s work is characterized by its use of bright colors and expressive brushwork. His work can be found in major museums around the world.

The two-day auction takes place October 17th and 18th through Le Shoppe Auction House on LiveAuctioneers

Bauhaus enthusiasts, this one’s for you.

Herbert Bayer didn’t just participate in modernism — he helped define its visual language.

A student and later master at the Bauhaus, Bayer moved fluidly between fine art, typography, photography and graphic design. These hand-signed silkscreens from 1970 bring those ideas together through geometry, complementary color and optical movement.

Two silkscreens. One private collection. Examples of these exact prints are held in the permanent collection of Tate Modern. Now available at Le Shoppe Modern.
