Traveling seems to be my theme the last few months, but that doesn't mean I'm not still stitching away on something. Last week I was flying, this week I'm driving, well being a passenger princess. Both have given me the opportunity to work on a couple of projects that I desperately want to finish. First up is my Sashiko that I started in 2024, I have 6 blocks to finish. As most of you know life got really crazy in the fall of 2023 and truthfully I probably shouldn't have taken on a new project in 2024 but I love challenges and mysteries when it comes to quilting. Second up is my that I started in January of 2023. There are lots of things that factored in to me not finishing this quilt - finding a good way to mark my squares being the biggest one.

Love that I get to work on quilts. This is another one I quilted in February or March.

What happens when you get your quilt top all finished and your feline assistant decides to clean herself on your top. For some weird reason she actually gets it a little wet and the fabric bleeds. You can't wash it because it's not quilted. You try spot washing it and that just makes things worse. So you set it aside for a week or two totally bummed that your Christmas quilt is ruined. You mull your options over nightly as you're trying to fall asleep and you finally have an "ah ha" moment. You remember the time you noticed a block on a customer's quilt that wasn't oriented correctly midway through quilting it. You remember how you took that block out and put it back in the correct position all without taking it off your longarm. So taking out the stained pieces on your Christmas quilt will be a piece of cake compared to the block on your customers quilt since your quilt isn't on your longarm. The moral of this story.... Don't give up too quickly. Give yourself time to mull things over. Look back on other challenges you've faced and how you solved them.

Another that I finished in March that I didn't get around to posting.

I have a hard time throwing "scraps" when I do stitch and flip blocks. If I think I can get a half square triangle out of the cut offs I will save them. I used to just save them in a plastic container or a baggie and save them for a rainy day. Well the rainy day never seems to come. So in the last 6 months I've started sewing them as I'm cutting them off. They make great leaders for the blocks I'm working on and then they don't pile up waiting for that rainy day that never comes. These cute little HST measure at 1.5". They're all cut and ready for a good pressing. I used my Strip Tube Ruler to trim them. Not sure how they'll get used but I will find a use for them.

Ah what a wonderful feeling to have this beauty finished. Can't wait to get home and put it on my bed. I was chosen to be a pattern tester for .designs quilt. My daughter .paige.rn helped me choose the colors. I really wanted to use the berry by . So she helped me choose some bold yellows and oranges that were not in my usual color palette . managed to get the top pieced by the deadline and then life happened and it sat quietly in a bag waiting for me to have the time to quilt it. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do but knew I wanted it to enhance the pattern but not take away from it. I actually tried to 2 different pantographs that I got to pick out before getting my son involved to help me choose. We settled on from .elementz . I used faux piping border tutorial which was exactly what this quilt needed. Thank you Julia for trusting me to test your pattern. Thank you Paige for helping me to be bold and brave. Jesse thank you for seeing what's in my brain and helping me to find the right pantograph. Thank you Marija for you great binding tutorial that finished my quilt with the right touch. And as always thanks to Urban Elementz for your great pantograph selections and your phenomenal customer support. To this is one of my that unfortunately didn't quite make it to the finished line before the end of the 1st quarter. The good news is I might actually have 2 finished for the 2nd quarter.

The month is almost over but I did have a chance to do my block. March's color was aqua. I discovered I don't have a lot of aqua which is actually good since I'm also trying to organize my scraps by color and I organize by the color of the month. I managed to get my block made but didn't get my aqua scraps organized 🤣. . Enjoying this challenge hosted by
