This quilt just got delivered all the way to North Carolina this weekend. It has quite a story. First, its owner found me on FB from the "Highway" quilt I shared last year. I hit "boost" on my post, paid a $15 advertising fee, and chose the southwest US to receive the post. Low and behold, this quilt's new owner saw the post and on a wing and a prayer, she shipped a box full of her memories to me, I'm sure with her fingers crossed that I wasn't a scammer.

Anyway, her mom (living in Florida) started a quilt for her several years ago and made a little progress, but although she knew how to sew, she had never made a t-shirt quilt. She tried her best, but had some starts and stops. Then a hurricane hit and flooded her home, which also flooded all the shirts and stopped any progress she had made.

So, when I got the box, the first thing I did was to cut everything apart, and start fresh. She loves to travel, so I quilted it with suitcases, airplanes, and cameras. I got a phone call from her tonight that just warmed my heart. She loves it. And I love that these shirts have been through such a journey, and now they are home.

I love Lala Sewz. And I totally agree with her on this. I understand they are t-shirts and not humans, but they hold so many precious memories. When a mom or a daughter or a son or a son/daughter brings me the precious t-shirts, clothing, or baby clothes of their loved ones, it absolutely IS emotional for me, and especially for them. It's truly an honor for me to be entrusted with these items that hold so many memories. I don't take it lightly.

This quilt was just picked up by its new owner. My customer was an athlete in high school, and he went on to be a very successful coach at several different schools. He gave me more than 100 shirts, jackets, and shorts (the most I've ever worked with in one single quilt). It was a challenge, but I'm in love with how it turned out. I'm pretty sure he also loves it by the bear hug I got. 😉

I love making quilts like these. He had two giant bins full of clothing that holds so many memories for him. He couldn't bring himself to get rid of them, but he also couldn't run around wearing t-shirts and basketball shorts from high school either. Now he has a quilt that he can use or display so that he always has memory lane to walk down with only a glance toward this quilt.

I've had the honor of being commissioned to make baby quilts for my friend's three granddaughters, the 3rd of which is due any day now! This is the most recent quilt I made, and it has been gifted. I also made a whole bunch of fancy burp cloths. I just love the back of this one (the 3rd photo).

This is the last quilt finished for 2025. My client wanted a quilt for her mom made from her dad's shirts. She said her mom always decorated their house in patriotic colors, so we went with that theme.

She also said her mom would love to have some traditional quilt blocks in the quilt, which is difficult with t-shirts. But I think I made that happen in the center strip of white. I used all the small logos and made them into Sawtooth Star quilt blocks and then scattered them along the middle stripe. The large middle block was a golf shirt, and I just added fabric to build it up into a larger block to sort of anchor all the white. Then I quilted it with stars and swirls. Oh, and don't forget the sweet, striped binding! I love how this one turned out.

My client gave me a couple denim dresses and one lace dress and asked for three pillows. She kept one, and gifted the other two to her sisters. The dresses belonged to their mom.

I also do embroidery. These robes were for three adorable little girls, and gifted by my friend, their grandmother.

This one was for a graduate of Tennessee Tech. I love being able to take a bunch of t-shirts in a bag and making them into something actually usable.

Here's another quilt made to be a Christmas gift. The recipient's t-shirts were from her college days. Hmmm...I wonder where she went to college. ;) I'm especially proud of the checkerboard border. It reminds me of the stadium when they dress in either orange or white, depending on their section.
