An update for friends of John Trevor Postles
Sunday 8/4/13
All in all a good week, lots of changes...whats always seems to help is the comfort I get being at home sweet home!
Got to see Dr. Abu Erreish, the cancer doctor "oncologist" who has been great through all of this. He is going to be taking blood tests once a week so we have more of an idea how fast or slow things are going with my liver. This weeks test was not good because of the after effects of radiation. The small amounts that are left of my liver are jaundiced and really inflamed.
I'm off radiation now so it's about getting my energy back and staying healthy. Lots of naps!! . The big QUESTION in meeting with Dr. is which way are we going now... and of course, for me that is something that is on my mind constantly.
This is what I have decided about chemo: they where going to try Nexavar, an oral chemo which apparently they can monitor more closely, but which has some terrible side effects! LOOK IT UP! But I looked at relatives who took chemo that were sick until the end. Being of sound mind and still feeling pretty good, and with God's help, Maureen by my side, and the prayers and support of all my friends, I told the doctor he can give the chemo to the next guy. I felt really good saying that and I believe in it! It's now God and me and we are going to finish the fight!
I started this week with acupuncture with Dr. Gregg Enos who specializes in holistic health and nutrition. He'll be working to help me manage my pain, relaxation, and anxiety. It is nice to be off the other doctors for now.
The shop is doing well and it is good therapy for me to be doing what I love! Linda Johnson has kept the shop open mornings 11-1, then Maureen and I come in 1-3 most days. Saturdays, Bill Toshik, who used to work for me at Drews some years ago, has been there in the afternoon helping me get caught up. That he knows the trade already has been a big help...lots of laughs and conversation!!
I have been able to get emergencies done for the firefighters and of course lots of cowboy boots! The income has been good as Jeld Wen has been tough on helping out Maureen with family assistance….nothing! So shes on leave for now.
Well need to recharge my inner batteries and hit next week with a big smile!!
Have a wonderful Sunday and a heartfelt thanks to everyone!
