🚩 RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT TOMORROW 🚩
A Red Flag Warning has been issued for our area tomorrow due to a dangerous combination of north-northwest winds of 12–17 mph with gusts up to 25 mph, minimum relative humidity near 10%, and critically dry fuels resulting from the warm, dry weather we've experienced over the past week.
These conditions create an environment where any spark can quickly become a fast-moving wildfire.
Adding to the concern, Governor Tina Kotek has declared a statewide emergency due to the imminent threat of wildfire in Oregon, highlighting the elevated fire danger facing communities across the state.
Help Prevent Wildfires
Please use extra caution with any activity that could ignite dry vegetation:
🔥 Avoid parking vehicles on dry grass. Hot exhaust systems can start fires.
🔥 Secure trailer chains and equipment that could drag or create sparks on roadways.
🔥 Delay welding, grinding, cutting metal, or other spark-producing activities if possible.
🔥 Never toss ci******es or smoking materials from a vehicle.
🔥 Check local regulations before debris burning and ensure all outdoor burning is completely extinguished. Note: outdoor debris burning is closed across Central Oregon.
🔥 Use caution with campfires and outdoor recreation. Make sure fires are dead out before leaving.
🔥 Maintain defensible space around your home by removing dry grasses and combustible materials.
🔥 Carry a shovel, water, and fire extinguisher when working outdoors.
If You See Smoke
Report it immediately by calling 911. Early reporting gives firefighters the best chance to keep a small fire from becoming a large one.
We all have a role in preventing human-caused wildfires. A few extra moments of caution today can help protect our neighbors, homes, businesses, and the natural beauty that makes Central Oregon special.
