Our Story

You may ask, where does the name Amia come from. Although everything seemed to fall into place when starting this small business 5 years ago, coming up with the name seemed to be the tricky part for me. I knew I wanted something that was short, sweet, and began at the beginning of the alphabet. So I thought long and hard and decided the boutique was going to be named after my youngest daughter, “A”ubrie “Mia.” I have a Masters in Social work and worked in the Mental Health Field for over 10 years. I knew I needed a new direction and a career change but wasn’t really sure what at the time. Initially, Amia began as something to get by while I stayed home with my kids and figured that out. Amia started out small in a 10 x10 space in a Resale Store in Spring Valley. Thanks to the support of my customers, friends, family, and community, Amia grew. After a year we moved into our own building on the east end of downtown. Two years later we began our Journey in LaSalle just 10 miles apart from our Spring Valley location. I once started as the only employee and now have an amazing Amia team of 7 girls! We celebrated 5 years in business this month and I am beyond grateful for all of you. Thank you for being our #1 customers.
