Grandpa Jake managed the Marshall County Conservation Area in the 60's. Wildlife and people was his passion and he collected all the memories of residents hunting, fishing, and loving the outdoors by keeping them in a collection of photo albums. Native Americans, Alaskan Natives, and First Nations waterfowl hunters have been utilizing floating decoys for thousands of years. The art of making decoys is passed down from generation to generation.

The decoys pictured are the oldest know of their kind, roughly 2000 years old. Found in a cave in Nevada, these decoys are made of a reed called tule, duck skin, and feathers from previous harvests; precisely crafted to lure waterfowl.
