ॐ To Be Conscious or to Be a Candle in the Wind?
Those not fully aware of the wondrous nature of their own self can more easily be swayed falling into the category of people who not only subscribe unknowingly to the idea that the human experience means to be merely a product of the environment but also, by direct cause and effect of their own misguided viewpoint, become individuals with a victim mentality towards life. To be a candle in the wind means that whatever and whenever the wind blows the individual like the flame of a candle gets moved into all directions and follows or rather gets pulled outwards unconsciously.
The spiritual attitude is to be the other way around entirely; it is to be physically, mentally and emotionally stable like a tree or a mountain, immovable, grounded. The word "guru" in Sanskrit at its origin means "heavy". The truth in this sense has weight: if the individual doesn't know how to stand in favor of his own victory, then without a doubt he will fall for anything. Opinions, assumptions, fickleness, temporary tendencies, divisions, ideologies come and go like the candle in the wind; Śiva being in all things, is the constant variable, the stainless, that which stays centered in the storm, that which is infinite, beyond space and time, the source and object of knowledge, the source of matter and of consciousness; of form but also formless and all-pervading, the unitary all-encompassing principle, the full spectrum of Reality larger than what is empirically perceived, that which inexplicably sustains and executes flawlessly all movement of all the laws of the universe simultaneously, being the sum total of all that has existed, that exists now and that will exist including that which doesn't exist or non-being. Śiva is even the cause of concealment, as Maya, he is the delusion and limitation the individual experiences believing in randomness instead of realizing the genius intelligence of Being itself, the auspicious unlimited quality of the Supreme manifested as the almighty Lord Śiva and His Śakti.
How could the source of life itself be flawed or blemished? It is the human malady that is the only ignorance. Just as fools believe in their own assumptions and misconceptions as being real, the spiritually famished fail to see and experience the ever-compassionate Lord who is free at all times unconditionally.
Whether the individual identifies with being communist, Buddhist, individualist, capitalist, colorist, racist, fascist, communalist, atheist or theist, Śaivam teaches us the epistemic inefficiency of identification to such categories; that the essence of the subjective or objective reality is not reduced to such simplistic terms. Nobody is born with a stamp or label.
"Partiality should not be done in favor of untruth on any one of the following causes namely, caste, discipline, school, pattern of behavior, body, country affinity of quality and wealth. There is no scope for distinction of caste etc... in the essential nature of consciousness. Being essentially formless, whatever form it happens to be accorded to, it is only a superimposition on it. Any such ascription to it narrows down its scope and hence is a confiner of it and deserves to be put aside. This has been stated by the Supreme Lord Himself in Anandashastra. Lord Śiva does not require anything for his sanctification. Both twice-born and those belonging to the lowest-class of the society need to be talked to on equal footing. Rays of Consciousness do not defile anything."- Śri Tantralokah, Ch.15.595
Also, hereditary caste systems are adharmic, and a corruption of the scriptures in the same way the temple is family owned: “Discounting the source of one’s birth, it is the peacefulness of his temperament on account of which he comes to be known as twice-born. This has been confirmed by Lord Shiva in the Mukuta Shastra.”-Śrītantrālokaḥ
Although the inevitable symptom of being conscious produces an individual with ethical behavior, moral sensitivity and compassion, from the yogic viewpoint the most subtle pathway is described as the blissful "unblemished". The samayin finds fulfillment through service, compassion, study, practice and dedication to the injunctions of the teacher acknowledging these higher principles as having been revealed by the one source and cause Śiva that governs all of existence from the earth to the most expanded spheres of consciousness. -Namaha Śiva, D.Campo. ॐ नमः शिवाय
"O Brāhmaṇas, Śiva does not shower his blessings on the ground of race, faith, caste or exterior attributes. I know Śiva only as the blessings of my preceptor.''- Śivamahapurāṇa, Pārvatī Khaṇḍa, Ch.25.
