📌 Press—Don't Just Iron!

There’s a difference!

🔹 Ironing usually means moving the iron back and forth.

🔹 Pressing means placing the iron down, applying heat, and lifting it back up.

When sewing, pressing your seams gives your project a much more professional finish.

✨ Good pressing can make homemade look HANDMADE!

🧹 Clean Your Machine!

Lint and thread buildup can affect how your machine runs.

Take a few minutes regularly to:
🧵 Remove lint around the bobbin area
🧵 Brush out the feed dogs
🧵 Clean around the needle plate
🧵 Check for loose threads

✨ A clean machine is a happy machine!

🧵 Don't Pull Your Fabric!

Let your sewing machine do the feeding.

If you pull or push the fabric while sewing, you can stretch the fabric, create uneven stitches, or even bend your needle.

👉 Guide your fabric gently and let the feed dogs do the work!

Your seam allowance can make or break the finished size of your project.

If your pattern calls for ⅝", don't accidentally sew at ½"!

💡 Use your machine's seam guide to keep your seams consistent.

Consistency = cleaner seams + better-fitting projects! ❤️

🪡 Change Your Needle!

A dull or bent needle can cause skipped stitches, thread breaks, fabric damage, and even strange noises from your machine.

💡 If you can't remember the last time you changed your needle…it's probably time! 😂

As a general rule, replace your needle regularly and always use the correct needle for your fabric.

🧵 Fresh needle = happier sewing machine!

✂️ Always Prewash Your Fabric!

Especially when making quilts, clothing, or anything washable!

Prewashing helps remove excess dye and allows the fabric to shrink before you sew it.

💡 Nobody wants to spend hours making something beautiful just to wash it and discover it no longer fits! 😩

🧺 Wash it. Dry it. Press it. THEN cut!
