TLDR: My production manager got behind on production and shipping funds that I prepay for and rather than tell me, he created a problem to explain delays and the loss of thousands of dollars in apparel. I can’t apologize enough and it is all being corrected as quickly as possible.

Customers and friends, I have suffered a significant setback over the last month or so. I started experiencing production and shipping delays that were explained away by my production manager citing storms and power outages. When things got really behind, he stopped communicating with me completely. He was silent for 13 days and has only recently emailed me to tell me that he plans to pay me back all of my loses. I’m hesitant to call it theft but there isn’t a word that feels more appropriate as things stand.

Those losses include teams that were already produced and had been “shipped,” teams in production, and teams in pre-production. This has affected a number of teams and orders, but I have taken the necessary steps to re-produce all that were delayed or lost. If you are affected, you have been notified, though some of the details have changed as information was made available to me.

It took me nearly 9 years to hire someone full-time because I value personal responsibility and I like to speak only for myself. As the workload grew and my personal life required me of me, I thought I found the right person to take the next step with. I was mistaken. My one-time hobby is now my full-time job and that was only made possible by word of mouth. My customer service has been the only thing that makes me a competitive option in a very crowded space. As a small business owner, it can be hard to be openly on one side or another of a “hot topic.” An opinion can lead to less business which would impact my family. But as I’ve gotten older and met more and more extraordinary humans that are all special, I feel that it’s important to be loud and proud as an ally. I have 2 little boys that deserve to see the beauty in every person they come across, and if I’m not communicating that to them from all roles in my life, I’m doing them a disservice. I’m willing to lose a bit of business to make sure that the people that need allies have it. I admire the strength that it takes to be different, to embrace who you are, and to live out loud. Y’all means all and you all have a supporter in me and my business.
