We are excited to tell you about our new Advanced Sashiko Class that is being introduced at Red Sky Gallery in Lake Forest Park, WA on Thursday, 4/27/23. It will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This is for those of you who took the first class and have your Sashiko Mending Kit with all of your basic tools. Now you are ready to learn more about patching and appliquéing....which is a big trend in denim right now!

The video below shows the materials you will receive in class. It is included in your class cost.

Sunday, 3/26/23 at 10:00 AM. The Art of Sashiko Workshop is back at Red Sky Gallery! It has been so much fun doing this workshop. We love the range of generations that visible mending with Sashiko has appeals to...from 10 to 60+ year olds!
Turn your favorite jean, top or jacket into wearable art. Discover how to decorate with the traditional Sashiko stitch method for visible mending. You will learn how to stitch the classic pattern Asa-No-Ha, (H**p Leaf). A swatch with the design drawn on muslin will used to practice the technique and process. (You can use this as a patch on a garment or home décor if you want). You will also take home a template of the design to use for future projects. 20 piece Sashiko Kit is included in the class cost.

Barb’s jean jacket with Sashiko stitching. The great thing is that you can just do a part of the stitching...like the front pockets, then wear the coat. Then you can add the elbow patching....you get the idea!

After taking our first Sashiko class at Red Sky Gallery, Jeanne took her favorite wool slippers and appliquéd the vintage cotton kimono fabric on the worn toe area and also sewed the fabric over the insoles. She did an amazing job. They look so cute!
