I’ve been working on some new tip shapes and trying to get organized in the new shop… and putting the work in to have a ski family while the snow is still falling!

I don’t know about you but for me the first day of the ski season is 1/3 little kid style stoke, and 2/3 an exercise in pain tolerance.

The first turns help shake off the summer as skiing takes it rightful place at the top of the priority list.

The first turns are burning F-you’s to all the muscle groups I’ve been severely ignoring this year.

These first turns are on the first skis of the season.

That day I tested 3 new shapes that I’ve been working on since last year.

A purebred pow hound that still proves to be my favorite. Name, undecided…

These mid-width 112 do-it-all’s I call the Brat. I expect them to become my future favorite.

And a big nosed, tiny wasted, speed-racer called the Agent.

Each ski felt even better than I expected them to. Rad.

My feet however felt like they were trying to murder me. Not rad.

Stoked to build, stoked to ski.

This season is gonna be awesome!

I’m only planning on building about 25 more pairs this winter, the next 8 pairs already have a home. So if you’d like to demo a pair and/or hop on that list of 17 or so builds left this season then shoot me a dm and lets talk skis.

The snow was dropping coming.
The shop was freezing.
But if everything goes just right
I should be able to ski a new pair of twigs tomorrow.
So I cranked up the heat.
Threw on my warmest jacket, the Adams Puffy (currently on sale for only $75)
And got to work.
Mission accomplished!!!
I was able to make a few turns on this pair I call the Slime Dimes and think I found a new favorite camber profile along the way!
Typically I’m looking for pow on the hill and flat camber skis have become my go to camber choice. But I have some ideas to test with different cambers and this was test number one. A smooth rocker to rocker 5mm twin rise under-foot camber. It was dope. Lost a little float, but with skis this wide (140-112-128) it didn’t really matter. I gained a ton of pop, so a fair trade off for those “ok” snow days when we’re reduced to crud jumping.

Side note: I decided (as a brand) to stay out of the more technical jacket game and stick to casual wear clothing. So These puffy’s gotta go this winter. They’re a synthetic 800 fill equivalent puffy jacket and are super warm. I’m 6’ 195lbs wearing an xl and you can see the modern fit in this vid. I love them, but would like to get them out there on some body’s so I marked them down to get them out of here asap. Also if you buy a pair of my mittens I’ll throw in a jacket for free. Like I said, they gotta go!I need some space back in the shop for new product. Just DM or email me what size and color. I appreciate all the support this year as my little art studio dream has gotten a bit bigger ;)

Hard work pays off. I’m appreciating the aspect of that phrase that isn’t about money. There is a primal satisfaction in building things. (For me anyways) Spending calories on creating. After a period of physically hard work there’s a moment at the end where I get to stand back, smile, and feel the joy of bringing an idea to life. Not all work and life pursuits have this short smiley moment at the end of a day. I’m sure grateful to have finally found a work that offers this kind of satisfaction. It fuels the desire to then come back the next day, put my head down, and continue to do the work.

The ‘Studio of Stoke’ (formerly known as the Cooper Building) is now the new home of Twig and Fin!!! I got the keys and have been busy trying to make this little dream of an art studio come to life. Room to work and work in every room. I like it here! A LOT! My hope is to have some micro-event/pop-up shop type stuff here in the future. Then we can hang in person, talk shop, boards shapes, ski designs, and whatever else. I’m super grateful to all of your sales and support that breathe life into this place. Each dollar made pretty much goes straight to Home Depot at this point… but in all seriousness you’re helping me build a dream shop/art studio. Something I never actually thought I’d be able to have. I can’t wait to get it finished and invite some of you to come see it for yourselves. Also I have a bunch of new gear in the shop if you’re still looking for those Christmas gifts. The Trigger Finger Mittens are legit. My custom designed jackets are up. And I just launched some of the dopest ultra heavy-weight flannels ready for a new home.
🙏🏼 again,

I’ll forever remember the day I saw this “For Lease” sign in the window of this building. I’ve driven past this building for YEARS and always thought it would be cool to have a shop of some kind. When it comes to business and commercial properties Lake Stevens is a small town that is quickly growing up… spaces like this are pretty limited.
It was a late Wednesday evening and I was all hyped up after another fun day at the local downtown market. While towing the trailer home I saw this building down the road a ways and started daydreaming my usual thoughts: “Man it would be so cool to have a shop art studio thing and enough room to make surfboards and skis…” The red sign in the window caught my eye and I quickly hit the brakes and pulled over to peek inside the window. Not only was there room for my art studio visions, but there was a perfect front room for a permanent small retail shop!!! 😳 it was perfect!!!
I called my wife and went into full “what if” geek out mode. She knows me and just laughed. “Here we go again” Im sure she was thinking.
Today I just signed the lease on that building.
Dreams can come true.
I can’t wait to share my vision for this spot with the world 🙌🏼🤙🏼
