Here are some of the finished photos from my largest commission today. According to the client, the person receiving it as a gift really loved it.

These photos are nearing the end of the construction. I thought I had taken some final photos, but apparently I did not. Anyway, this was a serious project and I am glad that the client and his girlfriend we're happy with the results.

This is what's on the bench today. I'm beginning my largest commission to date. This is the back of a VERY custom padfolio. A small dragon asleep on a set of books, and using the Tolkien's Tegwar Elven writing. (It's a personal saying, from the customer to the person he's going to give it to). I'll keep you guys posted as to progress.

And when I start the front cover, I'll make another post.

So I also finished a knife sheath for my supervisor. He had a really crappy sheath! I made him a deal, but this is 7/8 Oz veg tan, dyed black with Fiebings Pro-Dye black, with a built up welt due to the width of the cross guard, with a laminated overlay of lizard embossed goat hide in black.

And like I told him when I sent him these pictures, ..... Ignore the messy work room!

It's been a while since I posted so I'll bring you guys up to speed. The first picture is of a first responder radio strap set I was commissioned to make for a friend's nephew, who is an EMT. His face, and his name on the jacket as well as the strap itself, and the identifying House logo have been basically redacted for his security.

The second set of photographs is of a commissioned belt one of the people on my patrol route wanted to have done. I just got it done and he will receive it friday.

The third set of photographs is a big project that I'm going to begin tomorrow. This one is a very large (12" x16") left-handed artist padfolio. These are the two sides of the padfolio. This will be a two-tone set of carvings, black on the background, and natural for the dragon and books and letters. Incidentally, the letters are in Teguar, the elven language, from Tolkien's world. The hinge and front flap will be made using alligator embossed cowhide, died silver with sparkles added. The idea is to simulate a silver dragon hide.

So, there you go for an update!

I wanted to make something clear, that I don't think I have up to this point. I have multiple items shown on my page here, and almost all of them have been for gifts, or practice, with a few that have been commissioned.

What I wish to relay is that anything seen on this page I can make for sale. The individual designs shown, since many of them are gifts, will not be duplicated. For instance, my exact pattern and design for my archery equipment, the designs used for my son's gun case, or the padfolio for my buddy, those designs are specific to them. However, if you want a custom version of any of those items, drop me a line.

I'm still working up what those items might cost. The only way for me to do that reliably is to create absolutely plain versions of these items and see how long it takes as well as keep track of the materials, which I have not done in most of my gifts.

The only items shown that are on sale are the wallets, currently. This is one design, and one way of doing them. I am going to be creating at least one example of each of the patterns that I have, and I will take photos and list what they cost. These will be, initially, plain Jane versions of the pattern. Any carving, special color combinations, or any exotic material will, of course, increase the price from those points.

That's it for now, I just wanted to make sure that everyone knew that if they wanted something, just contact me and we'll discuss your ideas, and go from there.

Currently on the bench. Three of six wallets with this style. From top to bottom:

alligator embossed cowhide back, exotic ostrich hide back, and crocodile embossed cowhide back.

I still have to finish the edges to complete them. These will actually be for sale in the next couple of days. $75 for the two embossed wallets, $90 for the ostrich. I currently have ostrich also in a darker brown, and can make the embossed alligator in any color. I will also have shortly black and purple lizard backed wallets.

If you would like something else, drop me a line.

Well I'm totally pi**ed off at myself! I did several hours getting the inlay figured out (first one I've done, and with expensive stingray hide!), put together and sewn. Then I began trimming it. As you see in the first photograph everything looks fine. The first part I was using my skiving chisel, held vertically, and it was doing fine, but I figured I'd speed things up by using my trim knife alongside a ruler for the straight part.

Aaaannnnddd.... THAT'S where I screwed up! Apparently, I didn't realize that I was holding the knife at an angle, so when I cut off that section I discovered that I'd cut deep into the stitches on the other side.

This means I have to try to take apart the sheath, while trying to be gentle enough to salvage the stingray hide, and then go through all this again to make a completely new sheath!🤬🤬🤬🤬

Oh well, I guess I'm just going to chalk it up to "practice experience"!

Yeah, so guys, this week I'm trying to get four projects completed. I've already got the Skipper's cap for my youngest daughter completed, which I've already posted pictures of. Now I'm in the middle of doing my son's remake of his sheath, and I'm almost ready to sew together his wife's purse that I had promised her around 2 years ago that I'm finally getting around to.

In the last two photos below, you can see in one of them not only the new sheath I'm working on, but the original sheath with the knife still in it that's being replaced. And then in the last photo you seen the detail of the sheet with a carving done. I'm now ready to begin the edge work and coloring of the sheath.

The others are photos of his wife's purse. Unlike most of my work, she opted for a single color, with a very unusual plant (Monstera Deliciosa) as the centerpiece. And then I did a kind of leaves and Vines motif as a border, but instead of carving those out, I just used knife cuts to imprint them into the leather.

And then lastly, if I can make it happen, I'll be finishing up a replacement wallet for a buddy. The first two iterations had issues, so I'm using a completely different pattern. But, with the same carving. I will probably post those later as in addition to this post, as I'm still at work, and don't have the past examples to illustrate until I get home.

Let me know what you guys think!

So here's the completion of a project I began sometime ago. This Skipper cap is for my youngest, and the tooling design on the bill took three iterations before I could get a combination of issues resolved, the most common was bleed through from the gel antique through/around the resist that had been applied. I finally got everything to work. Now, I just have to get it to her. She lives in a different state. Relatively close by (3 hours away), as far as that goes, but between schedule and both of us being poor people, we're having to coordinate with existing plans. So she should have it next weekend.

The first photo is of the original first attempt, and the carving of the second attempted cap, which also went awry.

I told you guys the other day I would try to be a little more timely on my postings on my projects, so here is the update from the other day's post, with the final pictures of the completed water bottle holder.

I've got several pictures here, including one of the entire ensemble, as well as my arm guard (including a close-up of it). The water bottle is set up on the belt, and I have included as well a picture of the three different water bottles and their relative sizes, in and out of the holder. This is mainly to show the adjustability of the holder. The black one is approximately 42 oz, the turquoise one is a 36 oz bottle, and the smaller purple one is a 24 oz.

And I still have a couple of holes left when the older is adjusted to the black one, so it looks like I could go even wider. But I don't have a wider water bottle. But I really don't need one since all three of these will keep ice for up to two days.

I've determined that I am going to most often use the purple, mostly because the color compliments the mahogany. On some of the longer shoots, or on days I'm going to go through more than one practice course, I may choose one of the larger two.
