Deer Designs by Heidi drawn to the imperfect. my two hands. jewelry. organic. enchanting. love to hammer in quiet. movemen I have a knack for mixing color, but surround myself in white.

What started as a love of the tattered and torn, the curious and petite, and all things vintage, turned in to a love of putting them all together...thus Deer Designs. I make bracelets, earrings, or necklaces...designing and reworking each piece to imperfect perfection. I love the hunt for vintage buttons, cabochons, religious metals, or grandma's 'ol clip on earring...ebay is my friend. I like it simple. I just want to design...quietly...creating a piece of jewelry that is just right for you.

i shared these three bracelet cuff makes last week...same but different. a local artist friend gave me the nudge with the intention of her picking out the one she liked best for herself. well, today i visited her, and she chose. which one do you think she chose?
side note...the one she chose wasn't the one she thought she was going to choose. but, i knew she would choose that one even though she didn't know it herself...till just today~

i. love. silver. dust. i love "painting" with silver dust..."eyescapes" as i call them. i always end up seeing tiny tiny landscapes...distant forests, grasses, and mountains. finished this silver dusted cuff ring today for .studio she has a small ring size for sure...about the same as me. i like that...we both have hands of small that make pretty things~

a little project~
so there's this thing called ...i am sure many of you have stumbled upon it, or maybe even are participating. with the encouragement from a fellow artist (and kicking that anxiety thing to the curb,) i decided to take it on. here's my little project...every day for 100 days, i craft a charm using my silver scrap, odd stones i have had tucked away for some time now, or any other tiny tiny tricket i find. yesterday was the start...all i had time to make was a pebble charm (i think there will be lots of pebble charms.) today...i bezel set a piece of turquoise that i abandoned years back. two down...only 98 more to go. what am i gonna do with all these charms after ? that's an easy question to answer...use them in many deer designs for you~

sporadic bench time this week. some weeks are like that, right? finally finished the three latch cuffs...ditched one orginal design that just didn't feel like "me," and a lightbulb went on for another...that being the one with the open cut focal...love. they're like a little family...each one the same, but different. now let's see which one my artist friend chooses for herself. after she chooses, the other two will be dropped in the shop~

one latch cuff. the focal evolved as i sat and sawed, filed, and drilled a bit. getting that latch to hook just right was a pain in my arse, and had me cursing something fierce. she needs a patina bath yet, and a final finish...that's tomorrow. crafting another two or three more...each with a different focal. i think i got this latch thing down now. on to another "curse filled" task...shoveling. it just won't stop snowing~

yesterday, a "terrible, horrible, no good, very bad" bench day that had me thinking of moving to australia. today...things ignited. a good flow crafting cuffs, and a handful of "aha moments" that have me recharged. anyway, clearing out the shop a bit (making room for new)...marked these earring dangles down 30%. i like deer designs sales. why? cz years back i never thought deer designs would make it this far to even have a sale. kinda cool~

slow process~
yesterday i started on some latch cuffs. moving slow. designing as i go...my eye (and wrist) figuring out what works, or doesn't work. made my first organic tube beads...i can't wait to make more, cz i just had an "ahah moment" for an earring design...i stored it "up there"

stumbled upon these words...few words, but words of such involved truth. sometimes i look at my scrap pile of blunders...mistakes...or "just didn't make the cut" designs, and get so darn "pooped out" defeated. tomorrow, when i sit at my bench, after my morning coffee, i'm gonna hang thomas's words near my scrap jar, and, then i'm get at it...again...making art in silver. thomas was smart~

just ordered some "stash" so i can make more deer designs "stash." next up...a custom latch bracelet for a local framing artist that has been waiting so patiently for months now. looking forward to showing you all the design next week. but, while i wait for supplies so i can get started on it, i am thinking about rings and such. gosh i haven't made a ring is sooooo long. i'm thinking stackers...skinny little things for layering, or, maybe the design i have been sitting on for a few years now (swipe to the last pic.) i know at least a few gals that have been waiting for me to "get it together" and kick the procrastination to the curb, and make them. making the final decision as i write...ok...i will~

two earring pairs, and one necklace. sticks, hoops, and a landscape pendant. a mix of silver and 24k gold foil. simply said...edgy, but beautiful, art in silver~
swipe to the left-and you got a mix of silver and bronze. my fav hoops. a made to order design, i crafted a small pair for a customer the other day. i made an extra pair of smalls (just 'cz)...they can be snatched up too without the wait~
