It has been a very Merry busy season around here. I’ve been terrible at keeping up with the latest projects posting and sharing!!!
Between embroidery orders and alterations, I’ve been consumed.
Wrapped up my 10th solo costume last evening. I’m down to two final costumes with a before Christmas deadline to ensure they are ready for their first competition appearance.
I’ll leave you with this trio costume! Trios can be tricky, especially when you are working with dancers of all shapes and sizes. Matching elements and appliqué placements can get interesting, but I love a good challenge. This appliqué was originally massive! I hand cut the appliqué into a ton of pieces where I then hand arranged each element to create a design and layout. I added AB stones for the final touch of sparkle!
My greatest excitement is seeing the dancers light up over making a costume dream become a reality. Unfortunately I missed the grand reveal on this one, but my daughter was present and she mentioned it was amazing! Glad she got to experience it for me!
I’m beyond thankful for the trust my clients have in me. I am privileged with the opportunity to have creative freedom on costumes with minimal vision from dancer and mom! Sometimes it feels like a big ask and pressure to deliver. It’s the end result that keeps me saying yes to creating! The smiles and excitement just keep me doing what I do that make everything worth it!
And a special thank you to my husband’s aunt who gifted me “Dolly”. She wears a lot of costumes and gets stuck with many pins! It has been well used! I am on the hunt for a child size form if anyone has a decent one affordable and local to my area. Size Child M-L specifically.
