This mid-century dining set arrived with a blue patterned fabric covering the chairs that was all wrong. I removed it, fully prepared to reupholster all four and discovered the original fabric underneath in nearly perfect condition!

The set includes four chairs and a table with drop-down sides, making it compact when needed and roomy enough for four when opened. And can we appreciate those geometric chair backs, tapered legs and subtle brass details? 😍

The maker remains a mystery. The tabletop has some honest signs of age and use, but nothing serious enough to warrant refinishing—it cleaned up beautifully and is ready for its next dinner party.

REO Town is home to Lansing's most iconic landmark: Wynken, Blynken, and Nod. But do you know how that name came about? The Lansing State Journal held a naming contest for the stacks in 1981, and this moniker, inspired by the 1889 poem by Eugene Field, won out. What were some of the other contenders? Tom, Dick, and Harry. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Huey, Dewey, and Louie. I think it's fair to say, the best name won. The question is- if we were to hold that naming contest today (and Wynken, Blynken, and Nod was NOT an option), what would your submission be?
