๐ŸŒโœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿšข on the drawing table.

Okayโ€ฆ this is starting to look a little crazy. ๐Ÿ˜‚

So far, the plan is taking shape:

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ช Dubai โ€” a few days to start the adventure
๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต Tokyo โ€” then off to explore Japan
๐Ÿšข 12-night Japan to Japan cruise
๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ Melbourne โ€” flying down to Australia
๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ Brisbane โ€” boarding a 25-day Transpacific cruise
๐ŸŒด Tahiti
๐ŸŒบ Hawaii
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Seattle

โ€ฆand then?

Who knows. ๐Ÿ˜œ

One tiny detail: I havenโ€™t actually set an END DATE for this World Tour yet. ๐Ÿ˜‚

So I canโ€™t tell you how many days will beโ€ฆ because apparently I forgot the part where youโ€™re supposed to decide when youโ€™re coming home. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒŽ

For now, Iโ€™m just connecting the dots, one adventure at a time.

Dubai โžœ Japan โžœ Australia โžœ South Pacific โžœ Hawaii โžœ Seattle โžœ ???

And something tells meโ€ฆ thereโ€™s a LOT more to come. ๐Ÿ‘€

Wellโ€ฆ welcome to Dubai. ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ช And welcome to Cloud 22 at Atlantis The Royal.

Dubai has a way of taking the word luxury and saying, โ€œCuteโ€ฆ but we can do better.โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚

Cloud 22 sits on the 22nd floor of Atlantis The Royal, about 96 metres above Palm Jumeirah, with this spectacular infinity pool seemingly suspended between the sky and the Arabian Gulf. From up here, you get panoramic views over The Palm, the sea and Dubaiโ€™s incredible skyline.

And those white platforms you see floating in the middle of the pool? Yepโ€ฆ I rented one. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

They are actual floating day beds inside the infinity pool. You basically spend the day surrounded by water, with drinks and food brought to you, music playing in the background and Dubai stretched out in every direction. Cloud 22 also has private cabanas with plunge pools and even a two-storey VVIP cabana with its own infinity poolโ€”because apparently one infinity pool isnโ€™t enough in Dubai. ๐Ÿ˜‚

The hotel itself, Atlantis The Royal, is an experience before you even reach the rooftop. The architecture is spectacularโ€”almost like giant blocks floating in the skyโ€”with enormous open spaces, pools, fountains, celebrity-chef restaurants and some seriously over-the-top suites and penthouses. Atlantis describes it as an โ€œultra-luxury experiential resort,โ€ which is probably the most Dubai description possible.

But Cloud 22 was definitely one of those places where I stopped for a second and thoughtโ€ฆ

Okay Dubai, you win. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Floating in an infinity pool, lying on our own little island in the sky, looking across Palm Jumeirah with the Dubai skyline in the distance.

Completely unnecessary.
Completely extravagant.
And completely unforgettable. โค๏ธ

Welcome to Dubai. ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ช

Okay, technically Iโ€™m not moving into Versailles, I have not suddenly inherited a French title, and as far as I know, nobody has to call me Monsieur le Comte. ๐Ÿ˜‚

But for a few days, Iโ€™m going to enjoy a little taste of la vie de chรขteau at Les Hauts de Loire, right in the beautiful Loire Valley.

So this birthday will be a little different.

No huge party planned. No crazy celebration. Just a few days in the French countryside, exploring the chรขteaux of the Loire Valley, floating over them in a hot-air balloon, eating way too much French foodโ€ฆ and sleeping in a chรขteau. ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿฅ‚

I meanโ€ฆ Iโ€™m getting older.

I might as well do it somewhere with better architecture. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿฐ

And I love that this place actually has some history behind it. The estate dates back centuries, while the residence we see today developed in the 19th century and is generally described as a former hunting lodge dating from around 1860. It eventually became a hotel in the 1970s and joined Relais & Chรขteaux in 1974. Today, it sits in an enormous 70-hectare park, surrounded by forest, gardens and ponds.

Same ship. Same spot. Same guy. 12 years apart. โค๏ธ๐Ÿšข

2007 โžก๏ธ 2019.

Both photos were taken aboard Freedom of the Seas, standing almost in the exact same location on the Royal Promenade.

I still remember that first picture in 2007.

Freedom of the Seas had only been sailing for about 1 year and was still one of Royal Caribbeanโ€™s absolute stars. When she launched in 2006, she became the largest passenger ship in the world.

And back thenโ€ฆ WOW. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Walking onto that Royal Promenade felt insane. A street? Inside a ship?! Shops, restaurants, bars, balconies overlooking everythingโ€ฆ we honestly wondered how they could possibly build a cruise ship any bigger than this.

Wellโ€ฆ apparently Royal Caribbean took that as a challenge. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Fast-forward to today and look at ships like Legend of the Seas. Freedom, which once looked almost impossibly gigantic, suddenly feelsโ€ฆ dare I say itโ€ฆ almost cozy. ๐Ÿ˜‚

But thatโ€™s what I love about these two pictures.

The ship changed.
Cruising changed.
I definitely changed. ๐Ÿ˜‚

But somehow, 11 years later, I ended up standing almost in the same position, in the same place, on the same ship (yes yes on purpous ๐Ÿ™‚ for the photo).

Sometimes you donโ€™t realize how much time has passed until you put two photographs beside each other.

And apparently somewhere along the wayโ€ฆ Freedom got smaller and I grew a beard. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

There are places you visit because theyโ€™re famousโ€ฆ and then there are places that somehow make you feel something you werenโ€™t expecting.

Stonehenge was one of those places for me.

It was my first time seeing it, and Iโ€™ll admit, I expected to walk up, look at a bunch of very old stones, take a few photos and think, โ€œOkayโ€ฆ Stonehenge. Check. โœ”๏ธโ€ ๐Ÿ˜…

But it was completely different.

Standing there, looking at something that has been in that exact spot for roughly 5,000 years, was surprisingly powerful. Civilizations came and went. Empires rose and disappeared. Generations upon generations lived their entire livesโ€ฆ

โ€ฆand those stones were still there.

There was something strangely nostalgic about it โ€” which makes absolutely no sense considering I definitely wasnโ€™t around when they built it. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Maybe thatโ€™s what impressed me most. Stonehenge isnโ€™t huge or flashy. It doesnโ€™t need to be.

It simply stands there, quietly reminding you just how incredibly short our little chapter is in the enormous story of humanity.

I went expecting to see Stonehenge.

I left thinking about time. โค๏ธ

Wellโ€ฆ my fall travel plans just went through a FULL SHUFFLE. ๐Ÿ˜‚โœˆ๏ธ

The original plan was actually pretty epic: fly to Munich for a few days, then head to Rome, and from there board a transatlantic cruise back to Miami. Altogether, I would have been gone for almost another month to five weeks.

Butโ€ฆ I cancelled it.

And for once, the reason is pretty simple: I need to stay home! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Over the last nine months, Iโ€™ve been away for a total of 210 days. Between cruises, flights, countries, hotels and constantly unpacking just to pack again, I realized I actually have a LOT to catch up on in Montreal.

So instead of another massive trip, I completely reshuffled the fall.

And honestly? I LOVE the new plan. โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท France. Just France.

Three destinations. Three completely different experiences.

๐Ÿท Toulouse โ€” La Ville Rose, with its pink-brick streets, cafรฉs, food, history and that beautiful southern French vibe.

๐Ÿฐ Carcassonne โ€” a perfectly preserved medieval fortified city where I fully intend to walk around pretending I somehow travelled back 800 years. ๐Ÿ˜‚

๐Ÿ‘‘ The Loire Valley โ€” castles, vineyards, beautiful villagesโ€ฆ a hot-air balloon ride over the chรขteauxโ€ฆ and maybe a few experiences that will make me feel slightly more royal than necessary. ๐Ÿ˜

No Munich.
No Rome.
No transatlantic.
No crazy month-long itinerary.

Just Toulouse โ†’ Carcassonne โ†’ Loire Valley.

Three stops. One country. One beautiful French fall. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท

After spending so much of this year travelling around the world, maybe slowing things down a little isnโ€™t such a bad idea.

Sometimes travelling isnโ€™t about seeing more places.

Itโ€™s about having more time to actually experience them.

Franceโ€ฆ Iโ€™m coming back. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท

๐Ÿ‚ The Loire Valley, France โ€” Fall 2026 ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท

There are places you visit for one famous landmarkโ€ฆ and then thereโ€™s the Loire Valley, where it feels like someone decided to scatter castles everywhere. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿฐ

The Loire River winds gently through the French countryside, surrounded by vineyards, forests, tiny villages and hundreds of chรขteaux โ€” from enormous royal palaces to smaller estates hidden among the trees.

But why so many castles here?

For centuries, the Loire Valley was basically the playground of French kings, queens and nobility. Its location was close enough to Paris and politically important, but far enough away to escape the chaos of the capital. The fertile land, mild climate, beautiful countryside and abundant hunting grounds made it the perfect place for the French court.

And once the kings started building hereโ€ฆ everybody wanted to be their neighbour. ๐Ÿ˜

During the Renaissance especially, medieval fortresses slowly gave way to spectacular residences designed less for war and more for luxury, parties, gardens, art and showing off a little. Very French. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿฅ‚

So this fall, Iโ€™ll be following the winding Loire through the countryside, discovering its villages, vineyards and some of its legendary chรขteaux.

Chambord. Chenonceau. Amboise. Bloisโ€ฆ and wherever the road takes me.

France in the fall, chรขteau hopping through the Loire Valley?

Yeahโ€ฆ I think I can handle that. ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿท๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท
