Oh my gosh this came up in conversation recently and I figured I would share this blast from the past! They used outtakes from break time and my home visit to make a Project Runway/Dixie commercial. We joke that this was my husband's television debut and he likes to jokingly brag about it.

It took me a little longer than I had hoped but I got all of the first round of Monstera capelets sent out! Our dog got injured and our toddler has been resisting naps so things have been a little bit chaotic 😅 Growing pains! Anyway, I really appreciate everybody's patience and I hope you have a fun time running around the woods in your capelets. I'm open for orders again and I did preemptively make a few so that I can stay ahead of the curve. They are made to order so just know that it is a waiting period that is on the listing. 🌱 Get yours here :https://www.samantharei.com/shop

Thank you to my two beautiful clients for sending me these joyful videos! is wearing the children's version (which is bigger because it's meant to be a cape for a kiddo) with a Renaissance festival look and is wearing the grown up version with her cute pink dress.

The world is a nightmare and I'm in panic mode trying to figure out how to get these bills paid but I took some time off to make something whimsical for my kid. My husband is obsessed with it and said I should make them in adult sizes so I'm giving myself the afternoon to work on that today. Let me know what you guys think. If there's interest I'll put up a pre-order and if not I won't beat myself up because at the end of the day I made something beautiful for my son and I made my son and he's beautiful.

Happy run-on sentence to all those who celebrate!

A “DAY OF RECKONING & RETRIBUTION” was the promise Donald Trump made to Minnesota, though it remains unclear who or what required avenging. Somali immigrants, we were told, were “garbage” perpetrators of a billion-dollar fraud, but the vast majority of accused Somalis in Minnesota are citizens, which is to say this is not a problem that can be addressed by the 2,000 DHS agents who arrived there around January 5 and who, within 48 hours, had shot a woman in the face. A thousand CBP agents landed after that.

In mid-January, the number of federal officers in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area stands at nearly double that of regular police, and five years post–George Floyd, local law enforcement and their most progressive critics may agree on at least this: ICE is a threat to the city.

It is the misfortune of Minnesota’s ICE contingent to have invaded the state with the second-highest levels of social trust. Many activist networks were formed in 2020; we are seeing Minnesotans call upon the “muscle memory” of the George Floyd protests, Junauda Petrus, the poet laureate of Minneapolis, says.

In mid-January, a neighborhood organization put out a call for a meeting to organize a “Neighborhood ICE response”; more than 800 people showed up at the local elementary school and formed a tidy line spilling well beyond the door. Close neighbors met one another and formed hyperlocal Signal groups. At the first sighting of an agent, someone could ping the group and draw them outside. Their favored tactic was noise. They would make it impossible for ICE to conduct raids in secret.

I'm self-employed so me going to work or not doesn't really affect anything, but I'm staying home with my toddler and shouting about farm animals and school buses, then posting stuff that matters while he naps. If you go outside today please make sure that you are prepared for the insanely cold temperatures. With the wind chill it's going to feel like the -40s so be careful, be safe and be brave. Love you guys.
