This is an example of why it is critical that we as must educate our children about our . This is not surprising at all. The miseducation of African people through these so-called education systems is intentional. Historically, it has been the catalyst for an inferiority complex that has been downloaded into our self-image.

As a Xavier University of Louisiana alum, today's passing of Dr. Norman C. Francis hits deeply. Dr. Francis was, is, and will always be synonymous with Xavier's academic excellence. Dr. Francis was a visionary who helped Xavier become not only a great but also one of America's best universities. His work as a civil rights leader, helping to integrate Loyola University's Law School and his leadership during the Hurricane Katrina recovery effort must not be forgotten. The fiscal and academic foundation that Xavier rests upon was built by Dr. Francis. May peace be upon him.

Civil Rights leader and activist, Rev. Jesse Jackson, passed away this morning at the age of 84. Jackson was a freedom fighter who had two Presidential campaigns and was the founder of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition. An organization who's mission "is to protect, defend, and gain civil rights by leveling the economic and educational playing fields, and promote peace and justice around the world." He will be missed.

Jackson is survived by his wife Jacqueline and their five children. May peace be upon him.

February 23rd will mark the 6th year since was murdered while simply jogging through a neighborhood. We must never forget Ahmaud and how his life was taken. His murder was a blatant reminder of how some Whites view Black Americans. Especially when we are in areas in which they feel we do not belong.

She is best known for her groundbreaking book, "Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome," which explores the generational trauma experienced by Black communities due to slavery and systemic oppression. Dr. DeGruy’s work has been impactful in understanding the mental health needs of Black youth and equipping them with the tools to foster healing and resilience as they navigate a world that was created to oppose them.
