So, I walked up to a garage sale yesterday and immediately noticed a heavy-duty camera tripod on a table. “Cool,” I thought. “We need a sturdier tripod for our YouTube Channel.” I picked up the tripod and started to examine it to see whether or not it worked properly. The nice lady who ran the garage sale saw me from across the carport where she had laid out her items for sale.
“That’s for a camera!” she shouted.
I looked up at her, and considered her comment. "Do I look stupid?" I wondered. Did my expression say, “Well hey, I wonder what this newfangled contraption is. I better look at it.” These are dangerous moments for me. I don’t hide my thoughts well. My Sensei once told me that he always knows what I am thinking by the look on my face. I opted for a neutral response.
“I know. That’s why I’m looking at it.”
No sooner did I finish speaking than a little old lady with a cane walked up to me and put her arm around my waist.
“You deserve a hug for that one,” she said.
I laughed and returned the hug. And just to show you what a train-wreck I really am, the second she reached around my waist I thought, “Where’s my wallet?” It’s an involuntary reaction. I was raised in Chicago.
Well, the nice lady sold me the tripod for $2. It’s for a camera, you know. I couldn’t pass up that deal.
Melissa and I decided to head downtown and stroll around Leavenworth. We have not done that since we closed the store. It was wonderful to speak with business owners we’ve known for a few years. One of our stops was at Chasing Signs at 215 S. 5th Street. It was there that I saw this magnet that perfectly captured my morning at the garage sale. It now resides on my refrigerator. Chasing Signs is filled with wonderful home décor. There are a few things I will go back for. If you haven’t been there, stop in. Good stuff.
