Buddy wasn’t on the 49ers roster… he was on the FBI depth chart. 😂😂😂

I had the opportunity to speak with KSHB41 about CoreCivic’s sale of the Leavenworth detention facility to the Department of Homeland Security, but this interview became about a lot more than a building.

I talked about what I personally experienced inside CoreCivic, why I opposed the facility reopening, and why I feel like the way this ultimately played out was a “bait and switch” for our community. But I also got the chance to talk about coming home, opening Good Impressions Vinyl Studio, building GIVS Incorporated, and trying to use my freedom and my experiences to do something positive for Leavenworth.

One thing I said in the interview really sums up where I am in life right now: If I had known back then how good it feels to help people, I would’ve done this a long time ago.

I’m not interested in an “I told you so” moment. I’m interested in what happens to our city now, what this means for our schools and taxpayers, and how we continue moving forward together.

Thank you to KSHB 41 and Rachel Henderson for allowing me to share my perspective—and thank you to the Leavenworth community for continuing to open its arms to me and giving me the opportunity to show who I am today.

This chapter is bigger than where I’ve been. It’s about what I do with where I am now. 💯
