Heritage footwear brand making high quality shoes by hand in Lewiston, Maine USA

The human difference is in every cut.

Before the stitching, handsewing, lasting, and finishing, there is the careful work of transforming a hide into the individual pieces of a shoe.

Here, one of our craftspeople uses traditional die cuts to cut each piece by hand, guided by an understanding of the leather that comes from experience. Where to place the pattern. How to work with the natural character of the hide. How to make every cut count.

Tools may help shape the shoe, but it’s the people behind them who make the difference.

This is artisan craftsmanship. This is shoemaking in Maine.

This is what handsewn means at Rancourt.

One stitch at a time, our craftspeople shape the Beefroll Penny Loafer using genuine handsewn moccasin construction, a skill rooted in generations of Maine shoemaking.

Shown here in Heritage Brown, this is one of our most iconic styles, made from rich, unlined leather designed to soften, mold to your foot, and develop more character with every mile.

And if you don’t see your size in stock, that doesn’t mean you have to miss out. Place your order and we’ll make a pair for you right here in Maine. Our current made-to-order lead time is approximately 10–12 weeks.

Made by hand. Made for you. Made in Maine.
