My friend David only wears blue. I’ve known David for about five years now, though we’ve never actually met in person. Somehow, through countless conversations, he’s become one of those rare people who has a way of making me think more carefully about the life I’m trying to build. He’s spent decades helping people understand the values that quietly shape every decision they make, and now he’s distilled that work into a book called The Values Map.

A few months ago he called and asked if I’d make him a jacket for his author photo. He also interviewed me for a chapter, which was an honor in itself.

The only brief he gave me was, “You know I only wear blue.”
