16 years ago, Elle was born and I had already knitted her everything for her first 3 years of life (busy pregnancy) 🤣
People would stop me at the mall to ask me where I had purchased her coat, leggings, sweater… you name it. I started the business by taking orders in random places and writing down my email address in a piece of paper.
When we moved to Arkansas, I started going to the Little Rock River Market every weekend. Elle was 2 at the time. Later, pregnant with Sara, I continued the market, but by then, I had been part of organizing the Etsy Fest in Little Rock and had participated in many vending events throughout the state.
I never thought I’d be doing this for so many years. It was a hobby, a passion and something that distressed me.
I have been inside 7 shops, and I’m still at South Main Creative.
I have LOVED being able to express my creativity and develop new skills every year. I have loved doing events with my girls and even pregnant with the younger 2. I was interviewed at a morning news program before one of the events just a couple of days before Sara’s appearance into the world.
X&E comes with millions of memories, thousands of people met, faithful clients from 16 years that have become friends, and a lot of crafts-women whom I shared a lot of moments with that continued to be part of my life.
It is with joy and sadness that I have decided to close this chapter of my life. As much as I love creating, keeping the store stocked while dealing with life circumstances and 3 growing kids is a struggle.
I will continue creating, but once again, it’ll be for my kids. Maybe I’ll knit myself something for the first time. I can make custom orders for the ocasional friend or client. However, I won’t stress about inventory and stock.
Thank you so much for all these years of joy and creativity. Thank you to those customers that still 16 years later are still sending me clients.
PS Yarn will remain at South Main creative. I want all knitters to be able to enjoy natural fibers and exquisite yarns for a low price.
But as soon as I sell out my current inventory, Ximena & Elle will be permanently closed. If you want a particular color, design or size tee, order it at the store or message me. I’ll have it made for you before closing my doors.
Thank you so much for 16 wonderful years!
Have a blessed day!
