I have fought this post with everything in my being. Back a few months ago I felt really good. Creating shoes for you guys was a joy, it filled up my time while on the couch taking treatments. My energy was still pretty good thanks to infusions and steroids.
Over the holidays I noticed pain that wasn’t going away, I noticed it was harder and harder to stay awake, a lack of energy and just an overall feeling of being ill that hadn’t been there. I tried to ignore it.
Recently it was time for my midpoint checkup and as it turns out I’m not responding to the chemo as they had hoped. I’ve tried multiple types of chemo since 2021. My body is tired. The high levels of steroid and infusions can’t even keep me with enough energy to bounce through the day and take care of just normal house work. I didn’t see this coming. This wasn’t the light at the end of the tunnel I thought I was seeing.
I probably have orders for 20 shoes right now. I have a few options for those orders. I have wonderful friends who have their own custom Hey Dude business who have offered to complete these orders for me, especially for those who needed them sooner than later for presents.
For other orders you can can either 1) bear with me and ride this out with me and trust I will work on them every day that I have the ability to, 2) I will ship your shoe back to you or 3) I will have my business partners complete the order. I leave all decisions up to you, the customer.
This business and you as my customers have brought me so much joy along this journey, cancer seems to have other plans for me right now though. I don’t want to lose any of you at all, I love my Happy Feet family but I truly respect your decisions.
