We look forward to offering you the finest & friendliest customer service!☺️ Barnie and Arxie Seber made their dream come to fruition when they opened Overton Department Store over 61 years ago on the quaint City Square of rural Livingston, Tennessee in June 1961, making it one of the oldest businesses on the square! The store received its

name creatively and innocently by Barnie and Arxie’s young daughter, Marla Kay (just 11 years old at the time), as they were discussing the possibilities while sitting down at supper at the Overton Restaurant. Now, years later, Overton Department Store continues to offer premium quality clothing for women, men, children, and baby’s. And, additionally, continuing to serve the community with Tuxedo Rentals over these many decades. Literally generations of men started off renting tuxedos for their first prom, to their wedding and even now, their grandchildren’s proms and weddings. Overton Department Store has had the privilege to be a part of sharing in many special memories for our city, county and surrounding counties high school junior and senior proms. Excitedly, in recent years, expecting mothers can browse through our extensive baby and children’s clothing and other items to add to their baby shower registry. These items are all conveniently displayed on a separate table for shower guests or friends. And, as a complimentary service, we happily gift wrap for baby, birthday, or Christmas gifts! We strive to make your shopping experience the most friendly, unforgettable and uniquely convenient way to shop.
