Time spent creating a lovely place to live in is never wasted. I call those treasures that we choose to surround ourselves with "the spices of life!" Pretty things, placed in a special way, give our homes their own delicious flavor and make us feel happy!
This wonderful French gilt mirror dates from the 19th century. It is in exceptional condition and stands about 7 feet tall. Aren't old things amazing?!!!

I had the privilege of meeting this lovely lady, named Esther, when she came in to see her mother's wedding dress that I had recently purchased and put on display. ( It's waiting to go on a mannequin) We weren't completely sure about all the details but the dress, veil and shoes look very 1920's Gatsby -ish to me. It is in absolutely beautiful condition and the beaded detail is exquisite! Thank you Esther and Family for passing on the joy of this lovely dress!

A gift of vintage is a lasting treasure! This Sunday is the perfect time to remember not just our moms but also that woman who has added so much to our lives. Or maybe one whose journey through motherhood has not been so easy. A token of appreciation is always a welcome gesture!
I hope that all of you moms who I have come to know and love have a wonderful, peaceful, loving day! I will toast you all as I am drinking my Mimosa at brunch which means that The Lady of the Locks will be closed on Mother's Day!

This lovely antique slag glass lamp will bring a touch of Spring to any room! As will this glorious and rare vintage Czech cut to clear decanter with diamond etched stopper. And, just like our wonderful WNY weather, there's a chill of blue in the Maxfield Parrish winter print in the background!
