Bubble's Sew Shop

Bubble's Sew Shop This is a place to share my sewing journey. It's my hobby, my joy, and my way of sharing love. I am a maker! What are some things I sell? Masks. Custom orders only!

I have fallen in love with taking pieces of fabric and making useful things out it! I don't keep any in stock as we they are so readily available everywhere and we love having a variety ourselves so they are claimed as soon as I make them. The design I use has a filter pocket, a deep nose pleat that keeps glasses from fogging, and pleating that shapes it all the way around your chin while puffing

up off your nose mouth area. I like to chew gum at work and the mask doesn't budge! Tablet/phone stands. This is what I made and thought maybe I could sell what I make! Everyone who's received them as a gift has loved them, and I personally have 3! One at work on my desk, one on my night stand, and one on my craft table with a special filling that makes it a pin cushion that sharpens my pins! My favorite thing about them is the loop on the backside of it. You can put your charging cable through it and it doesn't fall down! It's always right there when you need it! Don't know about you, but that's always been a huge issue for me! Quilted coasters. Made myself a set and they were so cute and worked so well I decided to list them here too! Jar openers. I gave them out as gifts and got rave reviews! One side is rubber to it to give you extra grip on stubborn jars, the other has a fabric that's pretty to look at. It also has a magnet sewn in so you can keep it on a your refrigerator to keep it handy and displayed! Fabric flowers. I often attach them to barrettes or headbands. They would also be great on pins or keychains! They come out really cute so it's hard to imagine someplace they wouldn't go! Microwave heat pads. I make two options. One is a long rectangle that drapes over your shoulders really nicely, the other is a shorter rectangle. Both are meant to be placed anywhere heat would help relieve aches and pains.

Back in February I made the most complicated quilt block I've ever done, and had no idea what I was going to end up making with it. Finally decided, and I LOVE IT!

A labor of love! After about a year of collecting, planning, and finally sewing, I completed a quilt just in time for my nephew's 18th birthday! I had asked several family members what they associate with him, or if they happened to be near fabric when shopping, to let them pick something out. I settled on the disappearing 4 patch for the pattern and got to work.

As I approached the end of my project, his younger brother was over and took some time to inspect it. I filled him in on the final details, particularly the binding that would frame the blanket. As I shared various ideas, like more of the grey or maybe using more scraps, he turned to me with a look of clarity and stated, 'It should be black!' then turned and walked away as if his orders had been issued. 😆 I do love the finished project!

I included a picture of the back. I didn't have a clear plan when I started shopping for fabrics, so some of them I got a yard or more of, but only needed a fat quarter! I decided to use the extra fabric to make a backing. In the end, I think he likes the back almost as much as the front! 💜

This page has been super quiet lately, can't wait to spill the beans on a secret project I'm working on, but patience is a virtue, right? Meanwhile, I took a class with the fabulous Chris Kirsch of chrisquilts.net, and I'm still in shock I could make something this intricate! I need to get back to the surprise project, but I look finishing this Mariners Star as soon as I can!

My guild is doing a pin cushion exchange for our December meeting. Anyone can bring one they've made and wrapped. Then we take turns opening and and having the option to steal from each other. I LOVE the one I made today! You can store extra pins in the jar. To save you from reaching into the jar, and possibly sticking yourself, I hid a little magnet in the top. Flip the jar over and back, and some pins will be on the lid! It was tough getting the stuffing in and away from the edges so the lid would still fit, but worth it!

This is a project made of donated fabric. I work with a guild and we make projects for veterans, and in this case children's hospitals. I saw the fabric and just thought it might be perfect for an idea I had for playing with half square triangles, just a doodle in my graphing paper book. It was very exciting to see my idea come to life! Plus my husband helps cut and trim fabric for me and this project would give him plenty to help with!

It's's really humbling to think that this might make a child in a difficult situation feel cared for. I love being a part of a project like this. My own son was once hospitalized for a couple days and they gave him a bright beautiful tied blanket and small matching pillow. It made a huge difference for myself as well as our son. It just made the hospital somehow seem less scary, more like home. He still has the little pillow on his bed.

It has been a very productive week at the sewing machine. In order of pictures, a couple of boxy bags for a cool middle schooler I know. Next, my Fitbit broke and won't connect to wristbands anymore. I had an idea of how I could maybe make a holder, and IT WORKED. I made a custom set of sewing clips to help me better organize pattern pieces. My sewing club challenged us with a cat-themed project, so of course I had to do it. And finally, a cute new purple wallet with my personal label attached to it. 💜

Actually did some projects that were (mostly) for myself! New headbands and seatbelt covers!
