As I walked out the door this morning, I remembered it was Earth Day, and our 7 year anniversary at our location. As someone in this space of owning a business that centers the earth and protecting it and those that inhabit it everyday, it can feel silly to acknowledge one singular day as Earth Day.

Because we live here on earth everyday.

I’m so grateful to be doing work that constantly reminds me that small steps have a big impact if we are working every day to be better than the last.

Some days are about survival, and that’s ok.

How privileged am I to be able to work someplace where I get to greet people every day who are actively doing their best and choosing to show up for themselves and the planet.

We acknowledge that not everyone has that ability because they are fighting a different battle. But that’s why it’s so important to do what you can in your own abilities and keep pushing for a better planet for all.

Several times a week I get asked some version of “how is business going?” or “are you doing well?” Although we have bills to pay, I don’t strive for the mindset of continued growth. 📈That’s not really sustainable.

We measure success by how long we have been here and our impact on the community.

We are still here because of YOU!

Grand Prix Weekend has been an historically terrible experience for small businesses like ours that are located in the downtown area. Between loud noise, poor air quality, and lack of parking, many of our local neighbors/customers either hunker down in their homes or leave town entirely. We get very little foot traffic from race fans, and we have even had some scary situations with inebriated individuals coming into our shop. I don’t want to put myself or my staff in those kinds of situations again so we have decided to keep our doors closed. It will be a huge hit to our revenue to miss a weekend, especially during Earth Month, but in the end it’s just not worth it. So please consider planning a refill visit this week or next week!

I know this can be a helpful boost for restaurants and bars, so I hope they have a very successful weekend! If you are sticking around, be sure to tip your servers well!
