They look vintage. They’re not. 😏

These started life at Urban Outfitters, but Kelly (Kelly Ann Strodl) had other plans.

Several coats of black fabric paint, followed by hand-drawn/painted tapa floral patterns, with metallic shading on a select few. Getting the pattern to behave around a cylinder was no small feat. Every line and detail was painted by hand.

Then came the finishing touches: new braiding around the edges, followed by brand-new bulbs and wiring installed by William (William La Gone Jr.). ⚡️🌺

A little Urban Outfitters → a lot more First Wave Tiki.

We’ll have these with us this Saturday at the South Pacific Room Sale at Weir Brewery in Vista. Come see them in person before they find their new homes.

This upcoming Saturday we will be vending at the South Pacific Room event at Weir Beer Company in Vista California. The event will be from 11am to 4pm, and The Scimitars will be performing.

Come on down and hang out, try some tropical inspired beers and seltzers, listen to some great music, and maybe take a cool piece of art home.

We will be bringing a mix of our own hand made art and lamps, as well as a curated selection of vintage tiki items.

Here is a lamp we built last week. It has already sold, but it turned out cooler than we thought it would, and will definitely be making some more variations.

Guys, it was hot 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥yesterday, and yet there was good company, fabulous sushi and some refreshingly cool tiki cocktails to be had. So all-in-all a good day.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Kahuna Tiki Tu marketplace yesterday and walked away with a lamp, plant baby or other tropical treasure. We enjoyed your presence and the chats.

We even walked away with a new piece from the super-talented joseph iantorno and he took home two of our lamps! Can’t wait to hang this in our home bar!

You may even see a lamp or two of ours swinging in Kahuna soon, unless Carey takes them home, which sounded likely. We’re happy either way!

So we realized that we built this lamp, brought it to Tiki Oasis Marketplace and sold it first marketplace day…and never posted it on here.

So here it is.

This lamp was one of three that were built the week before Oasis, and also William La Gone Jr. three favorite lamps that we brought.

The bamboo for these were originally in the Kon-Tiki Oakland before that bar closed.

Meet Rum Drummer 🥁🍹

This custom nutcracker by Kelly Ann Strodl features a hand-carved Painkiller hat in the Marquesan style, a body covered head-to-toe in tropical leaf patterns, and a rum barrel drum because apparently this guy takes his holiday music very seriously.

He found a home at Tiki Oasis this past weekend, and per usual, Kelly completely forgot to take pictures save these two snaps on the kitchen floor… but don’t worry, she’s already working on more nutcracker weirdness for the holidays. 🎄🥃
