If you’ve been following along, you’ve probably already seen some of our posts about us getting ready to step back, take a pause and tend to ourselves for a little while.

We wanted to remind everyone that Saturday will be our last day open inside The Merk before we step into that pause.

The entire shop is currently 15% off and yes, you can absolutely use your loyalty points on top of that.

More than anything though, we would just really love to see your faces before we close this chapter. Come share a hug, a story, say hello, and help us send this space off with the love and connection that has always made it what it is.

We’re deeply grateful for all of you and we look forward to sharing what comes next when the time is right.

Big Love
Jen

Good morning friends!

I wanted to take a moment to clarify a few things as many of you sent us messages/comments and I feel I may have confused some folks yesterday unintentionally.

We are not fully closing.

We are just closing this chapter in The Merk. Our chapter here has come to its natural end and honestly, so has a version of us that existed within it.

Right now we’re intentionally taking some slower, quieter time to rest, recalibrate, learn, heal and really listen to what we need moving forward. The last year brought a lot of grief, personal shifts, reflection and some hard truths around burnout, capacity, balance and the ways we want to live and work going forward.

I believe deeply that the way we care for ourselves directly affects how we are able to hold space for others. I also believe the wound can become medicine when we actually allow ourselves the time and space to tend to it honestly.

So while things may look very different moving forward, this is not an ending entirely. It’s a restructuring. A reimagining. A slower, more intentional way of creating, offering and connecting that honors wellbeing, sustainability, intentionality and presence in a much deeper way.

For now we’re simply honoring the pause and all the feelings we are moving through but we want to assure you that this is not an ending entirely, just a pause💗

We are open through the 23rd and would absolutely love to see you. Come shop, come wander, come say hello and be part of these final days with us in this space.

Starting today the shop will be an additional 10% off and loyalty points can still be used on top of that.

We hope to see you.
Big Love,
Jen

I’ve sat down to write this post more times than I can count and every time I’ve tried, I’ve struggled to find the “right” words because there’s A LOT of big feelings.

First, I want to say thank you

Thank you for your kindness, understanding, grace and for allowing me to show up here as a human being.

I’ve wondered if I should show up less human and more “business owner,” but then I realize the humanness is the whole point. It always has been.

This space was never just built from a business plan. It was built from grief, healing, connection, survival and a deep desire to create a place where people could come in and breathe for a minute and maybe treat themselves too.

Over these last almost six and a half years at The Merk, you all helped make that possible.

What was created here became sooo much more than retail. Conversations. Circles. Tears. Hugs. Growth. Connection. Tending of Self, Spirit and Space. People sharing pieces of their lives and being witnessed in them.

This vessel was never just for me. It was and is for community. The person craving connection or somewhere they can exhale and find some softness in a tough world.

This last year especially has changed me. Navigating grief as a human while running a business and showing up for others while figuring out how to keep showing up for myself too has been and is a lesson still.

It has brought a lot into focus for me. The kind of life I want, energy and spaces I want to be in and tend, the pace I want to move at and how we show up to tend to YOU.

So with that I want to share that our last day open at The Merk will be May 23rd.

This is NOT a goodbye. It is absolutely a see you later.

After we close on the 23rd, we’ll be taking some time away in Hawaii to spread my mother-in-law’s ashes and take some down time before stepping into what’s next.

Before we close this chapter in this space we would love to see you. Come in. Say hello. Share a hug. Sign our book, share a moment 💗

We would not exist without you and I mean that with my whole heart.

Big Love,
Jen

Hey there friends… it’s been a bit since we’ve posted and we wanted to share a little about what is going on with us.

To be really honest the last few months have been really heavy. Over the last year, and especially in the last couple months, we’ve experienced a great deal of loss and it took all the wind out our sails. At the beginning of March, I lost one of my oldest, dearest friends…someone who was has been there for more of my life than she hasn’t. Just a few weeks later, we lost my mother-in-law who some of you know her journey with dementia and our caregiving journey. It’s been a lot around here and I’ve been tending my grief and what it needs, what I need.

The time I got to spend with my friend before she passed deeply shifted something in me. It put a lot into perspective about time, presence, what actually matters… and how I want to show up in my life and in this space.

Because of all of this, I’ve really pulled inward. Deep into grief work, inner work, and really intentional honoring of time and place. Really feeling it, moving through it, sitting with it, listening to it and letting it be heard without conditions.

And in that, things have been changing. Things are changing. Inwards and outwards.

This season is asking me to be present and show up in new ways. To allow the taking up of more time and space in ways that actually help and serve others, while helping me heal and not from a place of pushing myself when I should be slowing down. This shift is from a place of honoring what’s going on in real time and simultaneously stepping back into deeper alignment within and grounding in what we need to support this. For us and all of you.

I’ve needed this time. To step back. To feel. To recalibrate. To be human. I’m still taking some time away but I’m also making some big changes.

I’ll share more soon. But for now, I just wanted to let you know where I’ve been especially for those who’ve been asking and checking in during my absence 💗

It truly means the world to me.

Big love,
Jen

Every Night I’ve been lighting candles and tending this space because sometimes it feels like it’s the only thing I can do from my small corner of the world.

Today is another heavy day. Another day I light the candles and feel like it’s all I can do. Another day I cry tears for people I never knew. Here I place my prayers of protection, my hope, my tears, my rage, my grief, my love I hope radiates and countless other emotions, thoughts and feelings I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling.

I don’t consider myself to be a Christian but I definitely consider myself an empathetic human who cares about fellow humans and recently this statue of Mary came into my life and I’ve been working with her ever since.

Calling on her and her energies to watch over, protect, and cloak our targeted communities and collective in massive amounts of love right now. She embodies that fierce, grounded love and protection for the vulnerable. Working with her reminds us what compassion is and it’s choosing care, presence, and protection for our neighbors in real, everyday ways. All of our neighbors. No matter where they are from.

Times are heavy.
Take care of each other.
Take care of yourself.

Send up the prayers
leave the offerings
light the candles.

protections.
prayers.
eyes wide open.
rippling and raging where and when we can,
we must.
all of us that care.
we must care.

Bless and watch over the brave and the vulnerable.
Be good to each other.

Big love, big hugs💗

We hope all of you are easing into the beginning of 2026 in ways that feel supportive, gentle, and slow.

I headed to the ocean and took some time away from the shop and social media to tend to my own well-being and to honor a much-needed slowdown. As we step back into this space, though, it doesn’t feel right to pretend everything is okay. It isn’t.

Many of you probably already have a sense of where I lean. I’ve always shared openly in conversation, even if I haven’t been especially outspoken or overtly political here. We live in a small town where people hold very different beliefs, and difference has always been welcomed. What’s happening now, however, goes far beyond differing opinions.

Staying silent feels like going against everything I believe. Trying to carry on as usual feels dystopian and dishonest to my own soul.

We’ve done our best over the years to keep this space mostly non-political. But the truth is, spirituality is political. Care is political. Who gets to exist safely and without fear is political. At this point, silence feels complicit.

So I want to be clear. This space stands firmly for humanity, dignity, and the inherent worth of living, walking human souls, no matter where you come from. Full stop.

We are not okay with harm or dehumanization. We do not support this administration, and that is not up for debate. I never want there to be a question about where we stand or what we believe.

I know being clear may mean losing followers or customers in our small town, and I am at peace with that. There is no room for hate in this shop. People matter.

We will continue to do our best to be a light in a very heavy time, rooted in compassion, truth, and courage.

If you’re feeling heavy too and this resonates, stop by the shop for a hug. Chances are, I could use one too 💗

Big Love,
Jen

Friends! I hope you all had a beautiful holiday however you celebrate! Whether with friends, family, or flying solo we hope you enjoyed your day and to those who had a tough one I’m sending extra hugs and love-especially to those who are feeling their grief this season, knowing this time of year can be difficult and hard while the world around you keeps spinning. I see you and am sending gentleness to you and your heart.

We are taking today to lean into our own Yule season slow down. Quiet house. Hot coffee. Candles. Journaling. Soft, slow movements. The beginning of the “stuff” purge. I relish this time of the year and these in between days.

My wish for both you and I this season while we move through the darkness towards the light.

Sink in and slow down.
Give your body and mind the gift of slowness.
Stillness.
Seeding.
Slow Tending.
Sitting. Sipping.
Being. To become.
To rest after the great shedding. And all that was this year.

To commune in the stillness of this season 💗

Big love, friends.

We hope you all had a beautiful Solstice and were able to take some time to slow down, rest, and honor yourself and the season. We were so fortunate to spend Solstice in ceremony with one our dearest sisters and held in sound and space by our other dear friend and sister Angela 💗

It was a perfect evening for honoring, reflection and sowing seeds for the future.

And now the light returns….

We will be in the shop today until 5 and open Tuesday 10-6 and Christmas Eve 10-4 for any of your last minute gifting needs.

Sterling Silver Rings are still 15% off and all Specimens (any crystals and minerals over $100) will be an additional 10% off tomorrow and you can stack your points too!

We look forward to seeing you😊
Big Love,
Jen

12/15/2025

As we move through the final weeks of this calendar year there are many of us are closing out cycles and standing at the precipice of what’s next, reflecting on all that has shaped us along the way over this last year, and maybe even longer if you’ve been feeling these deep transits in the cosmos.

We are a few days out from the New Moon happening on the 19th, and I like to think of this time as the last gentle tilling of my wintering soul. A moment to soften, to clear what’s been spent, and to get honest about what I want to plant when the light begins to return and the true new year quietly unfolds.

Maybe you are sitting in reflection too?

What are we ready to release to make space for new growth?
How will we tend the soil in this in-between time, when nothing looks like it’s happening, but everything is preparing?
What are we committed to growing in the seasons ahead, and what support will that growth require?

I want to remind you that there is no rush here in this in-between, more like soft nudges to slow down. To rest. This liminal time calls us to alchemize and integrate all that we have learned in this cycle, to listen, to tend and trust that what’s meant to take root will.

Your own magic is being rekindled in the stillness and wisdom of the season leading you to now, your Rebirth.

Sending you gentleness on this Monday morning friend 💛
Big Love,
Jen
