🚨 Buyer Beware: What’s Really in that "Silver" Chain You Bought Online? 🚨

Hey everyone, Sherry here from Craft a Jewel. I wanted to share something a bit alarming that I recently uncovered, because I want to make sure everyone in our community stays safe and doesn't get ripped off.

We’ve all seen those incredible deals on jewelry from sites like AliExpress and Amazon. It looks beautiful in the photos, and the description promises "Sterling Silver" or "Real Gold." But as the saying goes... if the price looks too good to be true, it usually is.

I decided to buy a batch of random "silver" chains online to test them with our shop's professional, non-destructive XRF analyzer. I took some photos of the results so you can see for yourself (check the pictures below 👇).

The results were eye-opening, and honestly, a little scary:

The "Silver" Scam: Several of these chains contained almost *zero* precious metals. They are cheaply plated base metals that will tarnish, turn your skin green, and wear down in weeks. People are spending their hard-earned money thinking they're getting real silver or gold, only to be completely scammed.
The Hidden Danger (Heavy Metals): This is the part that worries me most. A lot of these cheap mystery metals manufactured overseas contain high levels of nickel, cadmium, or even lead. These aren't just bad for your wallet—they can cause severe allergic skin reactions and, worse, pose real toxic health risks if worn daily.

I’m not posting this to call out specific sellers, but to strongly encourage everyone to test your jewelry. Don't just trust a stamp or an online description.
